I've been coping with Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD), a chronically painful disorder of my sympathetic nervous system, 24/7 since 2002.

On the McGill Pain Scale, RSD (also called Complex Regional Pain Syndrome) sets the bar. Worse than cancer pain.
@ShannonBream 2) My nightmare began with a botched vasectomy by a doc supposed to be in an Arizona Medical Board diversion program at the time. Everything docs did to "treat" the pain only exacerbated it. It took 11 mos. to get a firm diagnosis.

No cure. No treatment.

@ShannonBream 3) My illness leaves me bed-ridden much of the time, and listening to music intentionally has become an indispensable means of helping to focus my mind on something other than the unremitting pain. So thank Heaven YouTube enables users to create our own Playlists.

My next twitter megathread is gonna be to watch every Mickey Mouse cartoon, starting on his 90th birthday on November 18th.

Last night ABC showed this birthday celebration special and so far I am finding it hard to connect with. This is clearly not targeted at me.
Even when I was a kid and full of imagination, I was never on board for celebrities talking about cartoon characters like this. I just couldn't get on board.
When I was a kid I brought an autograph book to Disney World and had the people in costumes sign it as their characters but even then I felt weird about it and what I really wanted was to meet Carl Barks and Clarence "Ducky" Nash.

I just had an epiphany: #beautiful has become my new favorite word. That may seem strange given my circumstances. In June 2017 I was diagnosed with incurable stage IV #lungcancer.
I naively thought that maybe my lifetime of being a health and fitness junkie would insulate me from such a medical fate. Wrong. And So here I am, fifty-one years old and not sure how much time I have left on earth. I know I could, or maybe should, feel angry, cheated, jaded.
But I don't. I have this epiphany that my new favorite word is beautiful and I'm not sure why. There is nothing beautiful about what I've gone through since my diagnosis--lots of physical and emotional distress to be sure. But yet, I keep find
