@ShannonBream 1) Pain? I'm an expert.

I've been coping with Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD), a chronically painful disorder of my sympathetic nervous system, 24/7 since 2002.

On the McGill Pain Scale, RSD (also called Complex Regional Pain Syndrome) sets the bar. Worse than cancer pain.
@ShannonBream 2) My nightmare began with a botched vasectomy by a doc supposed to be in an Arizona Medical Board diversion program at the time. Everything docs did to "treat" the pain only exacerbated it. It took 11 mos. to get a firm diagnosis.

No cure. No treatment.

@ShannonBream 3) My illness leaves me bed-ridden much of the time, and listening to music intentionally has become an indispensable means of helping to focus my mind on something other than the unremitting pain. So thank Heaven YouTube enables users to create our own Playlists.
@ShannonBream 4) I'll be 63 this year. I remember when John Lennon, at the height of Beatlemania, said the band were more popular than Jesus Christ. So I thought it'd be fun to turn Lennon's boast on its head: "Jesus: Bigger Than the Beatles" now includes 150 pop songs of faith, 1950-Present.
@ShannonBream 5) I'm interested in songs written and recorded by artists whose music was/is embraced by the secular audiences of the Great Unwashed. Rock & roll, rhythm & blues, soul--all these derivations of popular music emerged after WWII sprang from African American gospel music.
@ShannonBream 6) You can take the music out of the church, but you can't take the church out of the music. Not completely, at any rate. Truth is, there's been a lot more "Christian" music making goin' on than you might think. More than even I'd realized when I began this project.
@ShannonBream 7) The big surprise to me is how many folks have found there way to the playlist: Nearly 20,000 visitors to date. What's not surprising is that every song has a story, and I've decided to write a book to share those stories with others who might find them inspiring, and helpful.

@ShannonBream 8) Pain led me to create "Jesus: Bigger Than the Beatles." But getting there certainly isn't a pain: youtube.com/playlist?list=…

It may not be able to cure what ails me, but it's a pretty great salve for the soul.
