/ Imagine there's a billionaire with three children, but she only provides them with (just) enough food for two. They come to her to complain and ask for more, but she responds with, "I know, I know! But how‘re you gonna pay for it?"

(Yes, this thread *is* related to👇.)
/ Of course, the children have no choice but to start fighting with each other. There's simply not enough food to go around, and eating is a biological necessity! Even though they are **brothers and sisters**, they have to be terrible to each other in order to survive.
/ Even though she could easily provide for all her children, she chooses instead to shame and punish them for being horrible to each other. [How stealing a loaf of bread for a starving family forms the basis of Les Miserables] bahaiteachings.org/the-lesson-of-…
/ She soon starts sending her children to some (very well paid) "teachers" in order to help them "understand" that this scarcity is an inherent and immutable characteristic of the world. [Student letter complaining about economics textbooks being wrong] pinemaastricht.wordpress.com/pine-open-lett…
/ It has now been established that their mother is *clearly* blameless. Therefore, by process of elimination, the children conclude that this scarcity *must* be the fault of...the children.
/ Since each of them is genuinely doing the best they can under really terrible conditions, they logically conclude that it *must* be the fault of one of the *others*.
/ After many years of hunger for themselves and hatred for each other, the children learn #MMT. They come to realize that their mother has MANUFACTURED scarcity for their entire lives. All the while, she herself has more than she could ever dream of.
/ Perhaps this knowledge doesn't help the children, because they can't suddenly force their mother to provide enough for all of them. They have nothing and are constantly exhausted, and she has all the resources (and food!) in the world.
/ Learning #MMT, however, does help in the sense that they now know she‘s LYING and has always been lying. It also helps because they now have less of a reason to be terrible to each other, and more incentive to help each other, join forces, and organize.
/ Of course, their mother can keep manufacturing scarcity, but what she can no longer do is lie about it. Also, her go-to economic scaremongering tools of "fiscal responsibility" and "Economic Armageddon" aren't going to work anymore.
/ The only choices left to her are to (a) provide for her children, or (b) admit that she doesn't care about them nearly as much as she cares about herself.
/ So although nothing practical has changed with this new knowledge (they *still* don't have enough food, and she still has more than she could ever need), for the first time, we're now talking on a foundation of truth.
/ Since there are more children than there are her, that probably puts her at a sudden disadvantage.

#MMT forces truth. I guess you could argue that "truth is inherently left." Does that mean that lying is inherently the domain of all *but* the left?
Yes (to the picky picky), a billionaire is a currency user. If you can set that aside, I think this works. To her children, and especially since we’re mostly talking about FOOD, she’s effectively an issuer.
