1/19 Zahran Hashim is from Kathankudy in Batticaloa District Eastern Province of Sri Lanka. He has a history of trouble making and CID is well aware of his history. His brother is also a Moulavi Zainee Hashim. Zahran comes from a poor family background.

1/20 He was studying to become Islamic scholar at Jamiathul Falah Madrasa in Kathankudy - 4. It is a Thabliq Jamath Madarsaa and on his last stage of learning the teachings, he started to find fault with the teachings of that Madrasa against his masters or Usthadh.

1/21 He used to debate with them and tried to divert the mindset of other students. However due to his strange attitude and going against their teachings they expelled him from Jamiathul Falah Madrasa.

1/22 After he left from that Madrasa, he started his own teachings and preachings to the youngsters in his village. His preachings are against the Thabliq and Hubhu also known as tariqa teachings. He is a very talented guy and very fluent in Arabic...

1/23 So he got the attraction of youngsters in that area. He was promoting Taweedh teachings but due to his extreme view beyond Taweedh groups such as Sri Lanka Taweedh Jamath ( SLTJ) and Indian Tawheed Jamath. He started a new group known as National Tawheed Jamath...

Affected Villagers lodged a complaint against him at the Kathankudy Police station...

1/30 police started to search for him but he was on the run. Parents were taken few times to police to get the information about Zahran's whereabouts. It happened 3 years ago and he was 39 years old.

Villagers believed that he fled to Maldives at that time and never returned..

1/31 He was operating from there through social media and wrote news about ISIS operation in #Syria and other parts of the world. He writes constant updates about #ISIS news in Syria and he writes in #Tamil Language...
