Coming up in the @NYSenate: A bill that would authorize state authorities to release tax returns - including Trump's - if requested by U.S. House Committees.

Senator Andrew Lanza, of Staten Island, again leads the opposition to the bill, casting it a "smokescreen" for other problems and a threat to privacy.

Invoking Pink Floyd, Lanza calls the bill "another brick from the wall" of privacy and freedom.

"That was a good song, by the way," he says, spelling out the joke.
Senator Gianaris calls this "a dangerous time in America."

"The fact is that President Trump is taking this country is a very dangerous path."
Gianaris said the commonality between state GOP opposition to both bills is: "They think they're protecting President Trump."

"They want to go after criminals, but not when it's someone in this administration," he said.

SG: NY GOP believes in transparency, but not for Trump.
Senator Brad Hoylman tackles "the notion that suddenly all New Yorkers' tax returns will be exposed to Congress."

"The fact is, they already are," he notes.

House Committees already have that power.
Hoylman invokes the history of the Teapot Dome scandal under Harding, in citing need to avoid White House interference.
