THREAD: Remember the #BuildTheWall @gofundme? I was cleaning out some old files on my laptop and found a January screenshot.

And now I have some questions. Not accusations. Just questions.

(See here for the entire page archived from January 11, 2019: web.archive.org/web/2019011119…) 1/
Question #1: Why has the number of donors dropped by tens of thousands over the last four months?

Compare archived link to today.

Then: "Raised by 337,247 people in 25 days" (web.archive.org/web/2019011119…)

Now: "Raised by 261,806 people in 4 months" (gofundme.com/TheTrumpWall) 2/
Question #2: Are they refunds? In “Update 23” on GoFundMe, Kolfage said: "The liberal media is LYING and saying all funds are being refunded!"

Of course not "all" funds have been refunded, but did tens of thousands of people really ask for refunds? 100,000 donors? More? 3/
Question #3: Why is the donor number so much lower now after four months, with four months to bring in new donors, even with refunds subtracting from the donor number? How many people received refunds? 4/
Question #4: It appears statements about funds not going to Kolfage have been removed from the front page, such as “I will personally not take a penny of compensation from these donations.” Why? Was it moved elsewhere?

Archived January 11, 2019: web.archive.org/web/2019011119… 5/
Question #5: The “How do you know this is not a scam?” FAQ has been removed, and the word "scam" does not appear in any of the past 35 updates pages. Where did it go? Did it get moved somewhere? Please show me if so.

Archived January 11, 2019: web.archive.org/web/2019011119… 6/
Question #6: The page said in January that the Trump administration will tell them where the funds will go. "When we get this information secured we will update." This was removed. Has there been any update months later?

I am not asking this because I am a "leftist" or a "lib" or anything like that. I'm asking because these questions are important. You can ask questions and not be political.

Millions of dollars are involved here, and @gofundme is likely scared to talk about it. Here's why. 8/
If @gofundme so much as steps on a twig while tiptoeing, conservatives may say that they are anti-Trump, anti-conservative, censorship, Benghazi, Hillary's emails, etc. This won't be good for the company's future financial outlook.

But they should ask these questions too. 9/
Lastly, imagine for a second that in 2009 a California Democrat voter started a @gofundme before ObamaCare was a thing, raising money to crowdfund a healthcare program for President Obama's administration. 10/
Now imagine that four months after donors gave several million dollars, there were no answers on what was happening with the money. 11/
Imagine that instead of Steve Bannon, Sheriff David Clarke, Kris Kobach, Tom Tancredo, and Erik Prince joining the donor board, it's George Soros, Maxine Waters, Loretta Lynch, Barbara Boxer, and Bill Clinton.

Would @FoxNews be asking questions about that? Yes, they would. 12/
It's possible that there are easy answers and that I missed them on the @gofundme page. If I did, please point them out to me.

But don't bother with whataboutisms. They aren't helpful.

Let's see what happens with donations in the future for the #BuildTheWall campaign. /end
