Given that a significant number of GOP members of Congress believes in the afterlife, I'd like them to take a few minutes to imagine how their conversations with James Madison will go when they get to that place....

JM: So the President was a serial liar, lawbreaker, and corrupt nepotist who used the Presidency to enrich his family while abusing his power by publicly threatening his enemies in politics and the press but you did nothing?
GOP MOC: Yes sir.

JM: Well, at least you never claimed to have much respect for what we in the founding generation intended, right?
Ben Sasse and Mike Lee [mumbling in unison, looking down at their feet]: Um, we actually wrote laudatory books about what your generation did.
