my right ring finger is crooked from the time i punched a miniature horse in the backseat of my mom’s suburban
also there’s a small divot right below my left eye from the time my friend laken threw a rock at a wasp nest & ran away faster than i did. our fifth grade science teacher canceled the rest of the bug collecting assignment after that.
i have a small scar under my nose from jumping on my sister’s bed when i was 3. i was bellyflopping onto the pillows, missed, and split my face open on the headboard.
goddamnit, i also have a sizable scar on my right shin from the time, age 6 or 7?, i melted some chocolate in the microwave & then spilled it on myself. i distinctly remember trying to use a piece of barbie clothes as a potholder. massive full thickness burn.
i guess the moral of the story here is i have a fair number of scars, all of which are the result of something i should not have been doing. but now you all have sufficient information with which you could identify my mangled corpse if necessary, so that’s good.
oh how could i forget the reason my eyebrows are never symmetrical? in retrospect, i should not have been knee boarding behind a boat piloted by my friend’s drunk stepdad and i should’ve insisted on being taken to a better hospital.
