No. Computer security isn't broken. Computer security works. The evidence is all around us, proven by the fact you can easily read this tweet, read that stupid article, and conduct financial transactions online.
It's like focusing on plane crashes to claim plane safety is broken, rather than paying attention to it's enormous safety record and how it's an extraordinarily safe transportation alternative.
Sure, I don't want to be one of the 40,000 who die in traffic accidents every year, but automobile safety isn't broken, either. I'd rather take that risk rather than the extraordinarily costs that it would take to significantly reduce that number.
Claiming "X is broken" is the refuge of morons and scoundrels. Your audience claps and cheers because they believe it's "insightful". But it's not insightful, it's lazy.
"Insight" is when you defend a position that your audience isn't primed to agree with, it's when you aren't just repeating a cliche.
