2/ Trump—a political reactionary—wants to take America backwards. His target date seems to be before the 1920s, before there were regulatory agencies, when wealthy white men could do as they pleased.

Yes. Exactly. There are good reasons to impeach. For one thing, impeachment is a vehicle for putting truth in front of the American people.
But this does not mean Trump will be removed from office, thus it probably won't stop his destructiveness.
