Watching the so-called “Historic” #Istanbul Mayoral Candidates’ debates: The most boring live Pol debate I have ever watched. Partly due to not much experience in #Turkey media on this. The host sucks; terribly sucks with the most boring/flat questions... BORING!
I believe there is a YouTube version with English subtitles as well. Anyhow. Not worth it. Two candidates reading from the list of things they will do as a mayor- spending $X billion on training, $Y billion on daycare... and no one knows where all the money will come from ...
It is like two toddlers’ Christmas wish lists for Santa😂😂😂Zero controversial tough question from the host. Zero challenge. Just plain ridiculous & boring.

Our healthcare system has a lot of issues, but this doesn't seem like a great example.

She didn't like the needles the insurance would cover so she rationed (by choice) during a 2 month period before she received tax-payer funded Medicaid coverage.
Diabetes medication is extremely expensive. Far too expensive. However, we also have also come up with some of the best advances in treating Diabetes in the world partly due to how much is spent on R&D.
We have agreed as a society that we will help support those who can't support themselves. That's what Medicaid is for and she got access to it.

What happens when no one has a choice and gov't needs to cut their budget so they force everyone to use the needles she hated?

#Turkey is sadly teetering on major economic problems. My heart breaks for them. It seems so strange to me that they’re considering purchasing an S-400 Triumf anti-aircraft SAM system from #Russia, when US support at the @WorldBank & @IMF is what they’re probably going to need.
… #WashingtonDC has been working closely w/ its @NATO allies in #Ankara on the #Syria situation. The momentum of these positive, constructive relations should be seized upon to further broaden & deepen bilateral engagement. Conciliatory & deferential words/deeds are important.
… one possible path forward is special financing for a MIM-104 Patriot SAM system, w/ rush delivery to #Turkey… a priority for @ActingSecDef that’ll keep them in the F-35 program. #WashingtonDC values #Ankara as a #NATO ally. I don’t see why we can’t beat #Russia’s offer.

Most of the abuses that this sector of media is critical about come from internet giants, who pay lip service in response, because those abuses are very profitable, & regulation is unlikely in the US & users not motivated enough to change their usage of networks. /2
US regulation that would help stop the criticized practices is unlikely to help, mainly because Congress isn't qualified to design these regulations, so they would leave it to lobbyists working for the industry to be regulated /3
