For Democrats to want to avoid being doomed to repeat history means they want to remember history's mistakes.

Do they want to remember?
Speaking for myself, a country only gets to lie us into war once before I never believe that country's case for war again.

Post Iraq, I oppose all future U.S. military action.

All the more so when the commander-in-chief is flagrantly criminal, authoritarian, and a serial liar.
All the more so when the Secretary of State believes in dispensationalist eschatology, a worldview that hopes to hasten Armageddon in the Middle East to fulfill prophecy that will bring about Christ's second coming their rapture to gated-community heaven, and hell for all others
Do I think the case for war is a lie?

Short answer: Yes.

Long answer: YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES!!!!!!
Should we believe such men as Donald Trump and Mike Pompeo would use even men of honor toward bad ends, squandering their moral authority, credibility, and good name to wage a frivolous and disasterous war?

To any seriously asking these questions: Can you hear yourselves?
And that's even before we get to the question of whether such an attack—even with all skepticism dropped—would be worth igniting such a grim and terrible thing as another war.

And why would we ever drop skepticism?

Iraq happened. The death of credibility, forever.
