Folks, people—many of them Christians— listen to this guy and others like him. That’s a problem.

My point here isn’t about Marx and it’s really not about Jim White. It’s about the fact that people listen to what Jim White has to say about Marx and economics more generally.

Honestly, I’m not interested in trolling this guy or whatever. I just feel an obligation to state publicly that an alarming number of people in the #sbc19 follow him and others like him and cite them as authorities.

I’m not trying to be unkind, but he simply does not know what he’s talking about.

And I’m concerned by the fact that he is an original signer of the Statement on Social Justice & the Gospel.

Whatever one’s stance on these issues about economics and justice, we can do better than people who talk about matters they haven’t studied in any disciplined way. We have to do better.
