Now that the universe of all possible Tory leadership candidates is down to 2, surely Jeremy Hunt would be less disastrous than Boris Johnson? (That's not the same as approving of him, of course, but merely pragmatically weighing the both of them.)
My instinct: on October 31, Jeremy Hunt would blink, but Boris Johnson would tousle his hair a bit and then take us over the cliff.

After all, it's plain that Brexit won't be possible given the current Parliamentary makeup and timeframe, so it's all about how the then-PM reacts.
Boris Johnson would (wrongly) trust in his own bonhomie and his perception as a "fun character" to tide himself over the anger in the country that would result.
