Hearing many exaggerations these days. So, here an attempt to put things into perspective: (1) yes, (s)election of new #EU leadership involves power politics in #EP & #EUCO & between them, but that's how politics & democracy function – at all levels incl. #EU – get used to it;

(2) yes, #Spitzenkandidaten process not perfect, but it is here to stay although it needs to be reformed before 2024 #EP elections (incl. introduction of #TransnationalList) – 2019 experience should provide lessons to everyone (including European & national political parties);

(3) yes, #EP increasingly runs risk of being sidelined in leadership (s)election process, but majority in Parliament can still agree on common candidate for COM-P, who has a chance to be nominated by #EUCO;

(4) yes, solving #LeadershipPuzzle is cumbersome & takes time, but we all need to show some #DemocraticPatience – as we very often have to also show at national level;

(5) yes, we are currently witnessing an institutional deadlock, but it is more than likely that Gordian knot will be cut before the summer break – nobody really interested in provoking fully-fledged institutional crisis;

(6) yes, there are differences of opinion between Berlin & Paris, but Macron is still pro-European (contrary to what is being said/reported in some MS) & Merkel is eager to reach compromise to avoid harmful political stand-off;

(7) yes, solution to #LeadershipPuzzle runs risk of being (again) male dominated, but proponents of more gender equality can still mobilise to make sure that at least 2 out of 5 leadership positions, including COM-P and/or EUCO-P, are female (#WomenForEUPresidents);

(8) yes, the #Commission presidency is important, but (s)election of next #EUCO-P & #ECB-P equally important, given that #EU & member states will most certainly face more storms/crises in years to come.
