I don’t think people understand how outrageous this is. The Justice Department didn’t simply lie to a federal judge, they tried to gaslight the judge!
When the Hofeller files came out, the justice deparment insisted it was a “conspiracy theory” to say that the administration was doing what Trump has now admitted they were doing, which impose a nationwide racial gerrymander nytimes.com/2019/06/03/us/…
Not only that, but Justice Clarence Thomas viciously rebuked a lower court judge as a conspiracy theorist for....being correct about what was happening, and not swallowing the lie Thomas gleefully embraced washingtonpost.com/opinions/john-…
Again, confronted with a lie, which everyone knew was a lie, and for which there is documentary proof of the Trump administration’s real intentions, the Trumpist justices not only insisted that 2+2=5 if Trump says so, but that you must not believe your own eyes.
And now Trump has confirmed that what they were insisting that everyone was obligated to believe, is a falsehood. Incredible.
This is not the worst thing the Supreme Court has ever done. But it is definitely the most embarrassing shit I’ve ever seen.
Wrong screenshot earlier. This is wht Thomas wrote, echoing Justice Department language
