Wynnyk writes that when he accepted the VCDS position Gen Vance required him two year commitment from him, Wynnyk says he originally planned to retire in 2019 but agreed to serve "away from my family and beyond maximum pensionable time..." #cdnpoli #CAF

Wynnyk states that he gave Vance his word he would not seek outside employment until retiring 2020. Now come the stunning parts of the letter. #cdnpoli #CAF

Wynnyk says on May 13th the CDS advised him on May13th of 2019 "you advised that my continued service as the VCDS was no longer in the best interests of the CAF..." #cdnpoli #CAF

Wynnyk writes that after Vance told him his continued service wasn't in the best interests of the CAF he stated that he intended to restore Mark Norman to the job and that this created a dilemma in regards to Wynnyk's future employment #cdnpoli #CAF

"... that you intended to restore Vice Admiral Mark Norman to the position, and that his decision presented you with a dilemma with regards to my future employment." #cdnpoli #CAF

At this point Wynnyk says he started planning for an unexpected release from the military #Cdnpoli #CAF

That's not all... Wynnyk writes that after the govt settled with Mark Norman it was apparent he would no longer be returning to the job of VCDS "you advised that I can continue to serve as VCDS..." through till summer 2020 as originally planned #cdnpoli #CAF

Wynnyk said Vance told him he could stay in the job on June 26th of 2019 #cdnpoli #CAF

Wynnyk writes "While I appreciate the change of heart, I respectfully decline and and intend to take my release from the Canadian Armed Forces as expeditiously as possible." #cdnpoli #CAF

Wynnyk then announces he is relinquishing all duties "forewith" so he can concentrate on getting out and moving #cdnpoli #CAF

Furthermore Wynnyk says he wants out ASAP so he can find another job #cdnpoli #CAF

Nutshell: Wynnyk quits right now, says that he accepted Vance's terms to serve 2 yrs but Vance turned around & told him he was going to give job back to Norman only only to change his mind again after Norman settled with the govt and then Vance said he could stay #cdnpoli #CAF

This is the 5th VCDS now under Vance. This is unprecedented. The letter was also sent to a large number of general officers which is not Wynnyk's normal style. He wanted this letter to see the light of day with that wide distribution. #cdnpoli #CAF

So now who's the next Vice? They need a 3 Star and they're looking at some folks who were very recently promoted. #cdnpoli #CAF
