Yes. There is a movement in the church to prohibit women from studying theology, attending college, teaching, leading, or having any position other than homemaker. They claim they desire to honor God, but it’s all about securing and exerting their own authority and control. All of this exists on a spectrum, but even the less extreme tend to become more misogynistic over time. Like all sin, sexism and lust for power do not go away or get better without repentance. They grow like rot until they spread throughout a person’s entire way of thinking.

This is universalist heresy and why I said “by nature.” We are all created in the image of God, but some chronically unrepentant people commit such great evil, attaining such profound depths of depravity, they effectively mutilate and deface God’s image within themselves. 🧵 Image God so loves “the world” in the sense that he gives all people life and the opportunity to repent and be saved. He sends rain upon the just and the unjust (Matthew 5:45). But that does not mean he loves the wicked in the same way that he loves those he’s redeemed.

Thanks for all the loving and comforting tweets. You are amazing. I do not feel rejected by God (although I’ve felt that before). I feel his presence with me now more than I ever have before. I feel rejected by the OPC, and by people who should have stood by me. And that hurts. I wanted badly to have a father figure in my former pastor. I think God worked through that relationship to remind me that He is my Father and he is the Only One who will truly be faithful and protect me and love me. He is with me no matter what men do or say.

Racism is evil.

But I’ve been working so hard to get the media to care about abuse victims in the OPC for years and they’ve shunned and ignored me and the survivors I represent.

Then @CTmagazine comes out with 4 racist incidents and it’s viral.

Why does nobody care about us? I get we’re a small denomination. I get “OPC” as a keyword doesn’t get as many clicks as “SBC.” But the men & women I know who were sexually abused as kids, beaten black and blue, and whose mom committed suicide because their dad refused to treat her depression …

They matter.

It's interesting, a lot of metal music lyrically revolves around suffering abuse, so I'm drawn to it. I'm part of a FB group of guys who like metal, and a few are like, "That song's demonic!" and I'm like, "Uh, no, it's calling out abuse in the church, and that's demonic, right?" It's just strange to me how many Christians cannot differentiate the symptom from the sickness, the pain from the injury. You express anger about real and present evil and they fixate on the anger and ignore the evil you're angry about.

I’m reminded of the verse where Jesus says, “Do not even the unbelievers do that?” When a secular organization has to teach the church the moral way to treat sexual predators and the godly way to protect children from pedophiles, it shouldn’t inspire offense, but abject shame. Imagine if the Israelite spies had encountered Rahab, but instead of listening to her, they’d been too proud and bullheaded to accept help, saying, “We don’t need you, a harlot and a gentile, protecting us from dangerous people or helping us observe our enemies.”

Please pray for the OPC GA (June 8-14) as they determine their response to instances of child abuse and the mishandling of domestic violence.

I feel all but betrayed and abandoned by my denomination, but I still love the OPC, and I fervently desire they protect their children. I understand that many in the OPC may be angry with me for what I’ve done by speaking publicly about how I was abused in and by the church. If that is the case, please put your resentment and irritation to good use by ensuring the OPC never again produces someone like me.

Well, I can now say that my husband saved my life. Literally.

We were at the beach and he was body-surfing the waves. I personally prefer to imitate a crab and duck down and float over the waves. Anyway, I started feeling that sucking feeling you feel right before a wave so I … … was bracing myself for it, but the sucking got stronger and stronger, and I thought, “Gosh how big is this wave?” So, I looked and … there was no wave, and at that point I thought, “Oh 💩😩!”

At the same time, the floor disappeared out from under me and it felt like I was …

Once upon a time, there was a lost diamond that had fallen onto a gravel road. It did not know where it had come from, or what would happen next, or why it existed, but the diamond was no less valuable among the pebbles and the dirt than when it had been set in gold.

- 1 - After some time, a horse and cart came clattering along, and their hooves and wheels crushed the lost diamond further down into the gravel and the dirt.

Day after day, hoof after hoof, foot after foot, wheel after wheel, the lost diamond was trampled into the gravel.

If you have trauma from church abuse, you may need to:

1. Stay home until you recover enough. If you’d had a heart attack we’d expect this. Why do we treat broken hearts differently? Give yourself space and time to recover so you can come back stronger and not exacerbate trauma. 2. Go to a different church. If church leaders were abusive, this is a definite, but even if it was a fellow congregant who no longer attends, being in that space around people who know what happened can serve as a constant reminder of betrayal. Move out of the shadows of sin.

This annoys the heck out of me. His options:

1. If you’re negligent, your kids will “have feelings” and need counseling and question their gender, or

2. “Beat their ass” until you “wear that ass out” so your kid can grow up to be a dingbat on TikTok 🙄

You absolutely can discipline your kids without “beating” them. Sure, there’s a time and place for appropriate forms of punishment, but we discipline our kids the way a coach disciplines an athlete; to train, strengthen, empower, and give them their best opportunity at success.

Another golden example of gaslighting and blame shifting. You call out their sin, they accuse you of that sin. This is psychological abuser 101 and I'm so glad these people are trolling me because they're providing such great material for demonstration. A🧵... Psychological abusers project, meaning they imagine or at least claim you are guilty of their sin. They also love playing accusation ping-pong. If you complain about how they treat you, they'll complain you're treating them badly by complaining about them treating you badly.

All y'all menfolk tweeting and DMing me complaining that your timeline is full of porn ... You do know you can unfollow those accounts, right?

*sigh*

So here are some social media tips to help clean up your timeline: 1. Don't click ANY provocative photos or links. Anywhere.

As soon as you click these anywhere on the web, social media algorithms register that you're interested in that topic and will send you more. Do not click. Stop clicking. No clicky.

We live in a porn-saturated society. A large % of people today, mostly men, both Christian and non, started looking at porn around the age of 11. Subsequently, they view women, not as equals, and often not as human beings, but as objects intended for their sexual gratification. Because of this, when "modesty" is discussed in the church, it rarely revolves around the biblical concept. It focuses on clothes.

"You must dress in a way that doesn't remind me of porn."

This has little to do with the Bible, and everything to do with a pornographic worldview.

“If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.”

Matthew 5:29 Honestly, when I see men tweet crud like this, I suspect he’s hoping a bunch of ladies respond with bathing-suit and fitness photos.

Because that’s what happens.

Every. Time.

I know a lot of people are worried about our government; it’s power and it’s corruption. As someone who grew up in an abusive home and witnessed how evil is tolerated and facilitated by many in the church, I have given up hoping any worldly organization can be good or safe. Psalm 146 tells us, “Do not put your trust in princes, in mortal men, who cannot save. When their spirit departs, they return to the ground; on that day their plans come to nothing.”

It’s a mercy that wicked people’s days are numbered. Their evil is limited in time.

Lois Cummings Takemura valiantly pursued church charges against her abusive OPC pastor dad. Her cousin knows this. After many years of grieving and fighting privately, Lois went public. This is how her cousin responded. Do not enable abusers. Do not sweep abuse into the shadows. “I do not know the details of his family life …”

THEN WHY ARE YOU TALKING???

Sometimes you can predict an abuser's psychological attacks. For example, mine tend to do weird 💩 on my birthday, anniversary, or holidays. So, every time a special day is coming up, I brace myself for stupid drama. It almost never fails. I feel psychic! lol Narcissistic abusers will be jealous of your happiness and success. They'll try to damage your relationships because they want to be your only "friend" so they can own you. They'll try to turn you against your spouse because they want your marriage to fail just like theirs did.

If you are familiar with spiritual abuse, its patterns, and its objectives, you are unsurprised. I could have told you this story would break 20 years ago.

vice.com/en/article/m7e… As a refresher, back in 2019, I made the point that blaming abuse victims for causing men to abuse them is insulting to both the victims and men as a gender, because men are not sex-crazed animals without the ability to make choices or resist temptation. Doug replied: Image

Do these people just not care how bad this looks? Do they want everyone to think their son did it? Why not cooperate with police? Why not invite Dog in for a chat? Even if your kid is guilty, this game they're playing just digs the hole deeper. fox13news.com/news/brian-lau… There's really only a few ways this crime could have occurred.

If Laundrie did it, I don't think it was premeditated, as he doesn't seem to have thought out any kind of alibi or even an explanation as to what happened. He just went home and pretended everything was fine.

Story time. So, back when I was 18, I went to the University of Houston as an opera major. I attended freshman orientation and was one of a handful of students who stayed overnight. It was a bad area of town back then, and we were told not to be outside after dark. I didn't take it too seriously, and after having dinner with some friends, around 7PM, I was walking alone back to the dorms called "The Quad" which have since been demolished. Dark, creepy old buildings full of cockroaches, bad lighting, and blind turns. Anyway ... Image
