@INBreakthrough @UngenderTalks First key difference is that S. 498A is a penal provision focused towards punishing the abuser with 3 yrs jail time & fine. Whereas, PWDVA is a civil law that aims to provide protection to women from harassment in the form of monetary relief, residence order, etc. @INBreakthrough @UngenderTalks Women who are subjected to domestic violence are free to proceed under both provisions of law, as the remedy being asked for under each of its provisions is very different from the other.
