1/5 Hun Sen’s Proposed “Law” to determine single citizenship for #Cambodia’s leaders: Normally a law is intended to defend the public interest. The Hun Sen-inspired law targeting me and barring me from becoming prime minister is simply an act of meanness.
#SamRainsy 2/5 Hun Sen made it clear that, as a reprisal against me, he wants to definitively block me from the premiership. This is not the first time. Remember the amendment to the law on political parties, which specifically pushed me to resign from the CNRP leadership in Feb 2017.

1/13 The dissolution of the Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) by Hun Sen three years ago plunged Cambodia into an unprecedented crisis. 2/ The CNRP saw its 55 National Assembly deputies and 5,007 municipal councillors, including nearly 500 mayors, stripped of their functions. These were redistributed and, in some cases, resold to supporters of Hun Sen.

1/10 The leadership of the Cambodia National Rescue Party (#CNRP) and its millions of members and supporters extend warmest congratulations to the American people who, in massive numbers, have freely and democratically chosen their leaders at local, state and federal level. 2/ We have witnessed and admired how millions of Americans, in the largest turnout in over a century, have patiently participated in the long process.

1/4 On behalf of Cambodian democrats I would like to express my solidarity with Thai democrats who are protesting against the forced disappearance of Mr. Wanchalearm Satsaksit, abducted in Phnom Penh June 4. Image 2/4 This abduction, carried out in broad daylight, is an act of state terrorism in which Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen specializes and which has cost the lives of countless Cambodian democrats.

1/5 To eliminate dangers associated with possible "false positive" results produced by any faulty serological test, I have proposed a two-step protocol for the issuing of immunity passports. @WHO #SamRainsy
who.int/news-room/comm… 2/5 The first step involves a virological test to establish whether the applicant currently has COVID-19. A positive result means that no immunity passport would be granted to the infected person and the "false positive" issue would become irrelevant. @WHO #SamRainsy

1/4 The abduction in Phnom Penh on June 4 of Thai political activist Wanchalearm Satsaksit bears the fingerprints of Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen who is an expert in such acts of state terrorism. 2/4 As leader of the Cambodian opposition, I have myself been the target of several attacks which have cost dozens of my colleagues and sympathizers their lives.

1/4 Informed observers are predicting that #Cambodia’s banks may collapse, especially microfinance institutions, for three reasons. First: almost 3 million small borrowers can no longer repay their debts after having lost their jobs and/or their revenues in the current economic crisis.

1/7 In a statement issued Sunday, the banned opposition CNRP told RFA that the outbreak has cost millions of Cambodians their jobs and incomes, specifically highlighting the plight faced by those indebted to lenders.

1/6 In Gavroche on 3 May I envisaged a "predictable overcoming of the reservations on the individual use of serological tests" to identify those who have had COVID-19 and to evaluate their immunity by testing for antibodies in their blood. bit.ly/2L7sNR6 #SamRainsy 2/6 The WHO had warned that it’s "uncertain that the antibodies present at a given moment can give protection against a new infection by the same virus in the future”.

1/12 Cambodia and the EU now face decisive choices and a moment of truth. Having committed many reprehensible acts in the course of his long rule, Hun Sen is seeking at any price to ensure the impunity that only power can guarantee. #SamRainsy #Cambodia 2/12 As he grows older, Hun Sen aims to conserve this power within his family and is preparing one of his sons, Hun Manet, to succeed him.

1/16 A few hours before my departure from Paris planned for November 7, the Thai Prime Minister, General Prayut Chan-o-cha, personally told the press in Bangkok that he would not allow me to enter Thailand. He therefore complied with the request that Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen had made to block my route of return.

1/15 Exile has long been part of my life; even though painful it is a lesser evil than the risk of prison or a violent death which permanently hang over Cambodia’s opposition leaders. #SamRainsy #Cambodia 2/15 I have decided to return to my country this year despite the large numbers of legal convictions and arrest warrants against me.

Thank you to Dr. Mahathir Mohamad for the precious advice he gave to our leaders andpeople during his visit to #Cambodia.
The following seven valuable pieces of advice are clear from the diplomatic statements that Dr. Mahathir made during his visit. #SamRainsy 1/7 Cambodia must embrace, not reject, the Western-model of liberal and pluralist democracy.

1/3 A final proposal to Hun Sen. On Nov 9, if the number of people who come to welcome me at any place in Cambodia -- without any hindrance from Hun Sen's forces -- is less than 1 million, I will accept to be arrested by Hun Sen's forces and end my political career. #SamRainsy 2/3 But if the number of my supporters reaches or exceeds one million on that day (maybe three times as many in 2013 for my previous return in Phnom Penh after four years in exile), then Hun Sen must immediately step down out of respect for the will of the people. #SamRainsy

1/7 On behalf of the Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP), I would like to express to the European Union my deep gratitude for their effort and determination to help defend human rights and restore democracy in Cambodia. 2/7 Even though the CNRP was arbitrarily dissolved by the Hun Sen government in November 2017 to prevent it from participating in the July 2018 election, it continues to represent the will of at least half of the Cambodian people, a fact which nothing can hide.

Through peace agreements signed in Paris in 1991, Cambodia is obliged to respect absolute neutrality in its foreign policy. #SamRainsy #Cambodia @UN 2/8 On the basis of reliable, tallying sources, China, with the agreement of the government in Phnom Penh, is in the process of building aerial and port infrastructure in the coastal province of Koh Kong in Cambodia which could be used for military ends.

1/3 I call on the governments of countries who are friendly with #Cambodia, and especially those countries that respect democratic principles and human rights, to disregard the arrest warrants against the eight leaders of the Cambodian opposition. #SamRainsy 2/3 The eight are Long Ry, Men Sothavarin, Eng Chhai Eang, #SamRainsy, Mu Sochua, Ou Chanrith, Tok Vanchan and Ho Vann. They were ridiculously charged with “plotting to commit treason and incitement to commit a felony.”

1/5 The Phnom Penh regime is spreading rumours that CNRP President Kem Sokha would be willing to ask for his “rehabilitation” from Hun Sen. This is pure nonsense. #SamRainsy #Cambodia #FakeNews 2/5 The 118 leading CNRP officials, including Kem Sokha, were unconstitutionally banned from politics when the CNRP was dissolved by the Hun Sen regime in 2017. By arbitrarily dissolving the only credible opposition party, Hun Sen has destroyed democracy in #Cambodia. #SamRainsy

1/6 In a telephone call with government officials made public Feb 14, Cambodia’s Prime Minister Hun Sen said the government must destroy the opposition, the CNRP, before the European Union withdraws the country’s free-trade privileges. #SamRainsy #Cambodia 2/6 The statement amounts to an order to kill. Hun Sen’s willingness to resort to murder to eliminate critics has been shown many times in the past. #SamRainsy #Cambodia
