Short thread for lawyers & others who work on criminal justice system. The e-courts committee has shared a draft with vision for phase 3 of e-courts project. The draft was made by representative from Agami, Vidhi Legal Centre and Daksh.
cdnbbsr.s3waas.gov.in/s388ef51f0bf91… There is a fundamental problem I have with the committee's vision. They propose Open-APIs to share data between all organizations of criminal justice system. At heart of this system is Inter-operable Criminal Justice System (ICJS). Which will integrate courts, prisons, police. Image

Thread on origins of bio-metrics in banking and subsidy delivery with Electronic Banking System in Andhra Pradesh in 2006. This is about the AP smart card project. This is the true origin of biometrics with #Aadhaar & Direct Benefit Transfer System.
web.archive.org/web/2007120819… The idea around DBT primarily comes with the whole Financial Inclusion Initiatives being promoted by government. But the usage of bio-metrics though happened with this smart card project in Andhra Pradesh. The project was a pilot which & it identified few cores areas.

A short thread about this delhi based legal think tank which is everywhere proposing laws and committees. Some facts on record with govt documents as evidence. thread becase they helped formulate a data sharing protocol for @SetuAarogya I first heard about them during the #Aadhaar case when its founder @Arghya_justify was involved in defending govt's stance that Indians don't need a fundamental right to privacy. His stance during the hearing was privacy is part of article 21, so one doesn't need it to elevate it

Doing a thread on #NPR

To understand NPR, we need to understand wars & migration. The idea NPR came after the war with kargil in 1999. Where pakistanis entered India in civil clothes and we couldn't identify them. #IndiaAgainstCAA #IndiaAgainstNRC So after the kargil war, there was conference of all chief ministers on internal security on 17-11-2001. This is where the idea of Multi Purpose National Identity Card was proposed and the idea of National Population Registrar was born to identify citizens from aliens.

Reported a security issue of #Aadhaar demographic authentication API without any access restriction & was on unsecured protocols. This allows third parties to access APIs without being a AuA. Similar security issue has been previously reported. hackernoon.com/abusing-aadhaa… If you saw demographic authentications for your #Aadhaar on UIDAI portal, but you haven't done it. It's likely a third party who is trying to verify your details. As demographic authentication does not require any permission from the Aadhaar holder

It has always been said #Aadhaar is being linked to religion and caste information, apart from occupation. While UIDAI is not doing it, other government departments are. Here is proof that UIDAI has no idea what all is being linked to your unique id. Website reported early today. It's a live public website yet to be closed down. Reported it to multiple agencies. More details later.
