2. Impose statutory limit for time spent in reception centres (90 days).
3. Unrestricted right to work, language supports & edu.
4. Support people to live independently in community 5. Impose statutory limits for processing asylum claims (issuing of decisions: automatic leave to remain if no final decision issued in 18 months.
6. Invest in recruitment & training for people processing asylum claims
7. Improve quality of first decisions (unnecessary appeals)

The @DeptJusticeIRL will pay travel costs for asylum seekers to attend #Pride as if they don't ask them to prove sexual orientation 🙄 If only you read half of the rejection letters for LGBT+ asylum seekers you'd understand why this is pathetic Not so long ago we were contacted by a solicitor representing an asylum seeker whose sexual orientation was questioned by both the IPO and appeal tribunal. The solicitor asked us to write a letter confirming the applicant's participation in our LGBT+ activities.

1/6 @spirasi are the only organisation in Ireland providing crucial services for survivors of torture. 1 in 2 asylum seekers in Ireland has survived torture, inhumane and degrading treatment, sexual violence or combination. 2/6 we're getting reports of delays in obtaining reports from SPIRASI (they are under-resourced). An asylum seeker just told us that SPIRASI refused to provide a medico legal report because it would not be beneficial for the asylum seeker
