Turbulence was bad enough on my flight this morning that the pilot stopped drink service, made the flight attendants sit and buckle in.

I’m a nervous flier on a good day; I was gripping my seat and fidgeting hard. The guy next to me was reading Dune. I figured he was fine— I always figure everyone is fine but me. And then I saw how hard he was gripping his book, how the pages rippled between his fingers.
