Very important order from the Supreme Court and definitely worth reading. Will tweet some excerpts for about the issues raised. As usual, Justice Chandrachud and his colleagues on the Bench have brought in a lot of clarity #Thread #COVID19 #vaccination
images.assettype.com/barandbench/20… The SC settles that #vaccination is a central government responsibility: "Thus, the management of the pandemic, control of the spread of COVID-19, vaccination policy and pricing, are the responsibility of the Central Government," which must work with State Govts 2/n

For citizens in #Gurugram #Gurgaon, @DC_Gurugram has launched a @WhatsApp chatbot for its citizens. We worked with them to ensure citizens have an additional platform to seek help.
Weblink: wa.me/919643277788?t…

Please save the Phone number 👇🏼👇🏼 #thread Image This is a service *Only* for District #Gurugram. Please don't use it for testing. It will only overload the system.

This is an effort to reach patients at home and help them. As the Bot stabilises in a few days, we will add more services to it.

Following the "revelation" of #WhatsApp chats of Bollywood actors, a short #thread on the #tech, #encryption #surveillance and #law. How did the police access the chats and what it means for privacy. 1/n Messaging apps like #WhatsApp and @signalapp offer end-to-end #encryption. Incidentally, the protocol for both was designed by one of my favourite engineers and genius @moxie and his group.

The #chineseincursions into India and the #Covid_19 pandemic threat -- are two major back-to-back intelligence failures -- collection & analysis -- for India. My column for @DeccanChronicle
deccanchronicle.com/opinion/column… The failure of intelligence is a political failure. No government wants to reform Indian intelligence for current and future threats

Why did the plethora of Indian security agencies miss the massive Chinese build up? Turns out, it hadn't. But there were many Kargil-type failures in assessing Chinese intentions. My piece
deccanchronicle.com/opinion/column… The ITBP and the army has elaborate patrolling protocols that are jointly planned by MoD and MHA. They carry GPS and collect waypoints as they patrol. Why did they miss out on the Chinese build up? Or did they?

A little bit of focussed policing can do wonders for citizens. Have been witnessing how @TrafficGGM has been working to reduce fatalities and accidents. The numbers speak for themselves. A short #thread
@mlkhattar @anilvijminister @nsvirk In January 2019 there were 122 road accidents. By December 2019 this came down to 81.
In the same period fatalities reduced from 50 to 27.

Probably the most detailed and factual report on the Chinese intrusion into India. @ajaishukla has some very worrying details #thread
thewire.in/security/in-ta… It emerges that the Chinese have built a metalled road up to Finger 4. Why did India not react to this with force? 2/2

Friends on Twitter -- since we are going into a lockdown due to #Covid_19india here is a suggestion.

Lockdown will hamper even essential services as staffers might find it difficult to travel to areas of work.

A #thread on how to help using @twitter 1. Use Twitter to locate people in and around your locality. Build volunteer groups in the areas. Put them in an excel sheet using location (colony, apartment etc).

I spoke to Amb Satish Chandra, who as as DyNSA under PM Vajpayee, wrote the first paper on pandemic threats to India in 2003-04.

My column this week and a #thread on the #COVID2019 from an India perspective
deccanchronicle.com/opinion/column… In 2003-04, Amb Chandra called the first meeting of the NSCS as the SARS virus raged through. He was horrified to find how unprepared India was. He immediately wrote a paper and it finally went to JN Dixit, who had taken over as NSA

The #DelhiElection2020 voting percentage is hovering around 57-60% at 6 pm.

From a low 30% at 2 pm it jumped to 57-60%

What does that mean?

#Thread One, either BJP or AAP managed to mobilise their cadres. Here, BJP is at a distinct advantage since they have a larger cadre base, more money and a better organisation.

However, AAP has built a strong cadre that loves to fight like a guerrilla. +

What does the Facebook page of "Rambhakt Gopal" who just shot #CAA_NRCProtests protesters tell us?

A #thread that shows:

-- how the "Goli Maaron Saalon Ko" call by a BJP minister and candidate works in inciting violence

-- what he and his supporters want Image How do we know this is the same "Rambhakt Gopal"? He did a Facebook live before he went to shoot the protesters. His facebook page is full of images from Jamia.

He also said this #thread Image

It's fascinating to see how easily an Indian citizen can be put on a "No-fly list" with a few tweets on Twitter. Private and public airline companies immediately fall in line. Issues about due process, natural justice, etc are so easily disposable. Can India still be a democracy? Not getting into the debate on what @kunalkamra88 did. But can the rights of an Indian citizen to travel be taken away so easily without even giving him/her a chance to present a case? Are Constitutional rights so weak that a few tweets can take them away?

For more than a month the #CAA_NRCProtests have not only sustained, the continue to grow. From Assam and the North East, they have now spread across the country. And we have seen the government, not only obfuscate, but also lie + First the government claimed CAA-NPR-NRC is one chronology.
Then they said there is no chronology.

Earlier they said religious persecution. Now they say persecuted minorities.

Said this will help minorities, but have Dec 31,2014 as cut off +
