Darktide Beach. After being hit by a freak tidal wave, life has been hard on the villagers of the small fishing town. Many people are still missing, and there are rumors of dark ceremonies on the beach and lighthouse. Strangest of all is the giant crab corpse that washed ashore.
1. Darktide Village. The isolated town is struggling to recover after the wave. People say they saw bright lights in the night sky over the ocean prior to the disaster. The mayor is desperate to get normal fishing operations up and running, but most boats are wrecked.
2. Abandoned Lighthouse. A small band of smugglers are using the lighthouse as a base of operations. They are selling their wares to the desperate townspeople at high prices with no moral qualms. A drunkard swears he saw a creature, half man/half crab, coming out of the ocean.
3. Titanic Crab Corpse. This monstrosity is attracting attention from both villagers, smugglers and birds. The stench is terrible, but the things spilling out of it even worse. A few brave people have climbed inside the giant body hoping to find valuables, but none have returned.
4. Strange, new Island? (Barely pictured) Did this thing fall from the skies? Is it an alien vessel or a god-fragment? How is it affecting the oceanic life, and how come it's moving?
Thanks @chgowiz for your excellent Just-Three-Hexes blog posts. They inspired me to draw and write this short little campaign starter. I might even flesh this out more and make it into an actual module, who knows?
