👁‍🗨ODNI released FISA compliance for December 1, 2016-May 31,2017. The tedious report, not shockingly, claims everything was swell and everyone did great but also manages to contradict those claims. Bureaucracy never ceases to amaze. Here’s a few highlights..
By far the most interesting bit is this note: compliance incidents conducted by FBI linguist (Nellie is that you?) Government has concluded its investigation, there WAS noncompliance but @ODNIgov has YET to tell the FISA court? What’s the hold up Coats? #FISAabuse
Jumping to the other fascinating note: looks like only recently NSD and ODNI will finally be able to review CIA’s written justification for requests on U.S persons. Is this why Brennan was edgy today? (report released the 4th)
In typical fashion the most important information is redacted but during this time period there was a significant increase of facilities requested🤷🏼‍♀️
This one is a real gem. the government “should have known that the user was a United States person” YOU THINK? That’s your job🤦‍♀️Then they chalk it up to human error.
Seemingly contradicting previous 3% stated were now told ONLY 17% of the facilities involved U.S persons (still not clear what defines facility) also isn’t FISA supppsed to be 0% U.S persons? Details...details...
This sort of breakdowns “facilities” pretty sure it boils down to phone, email etc. of course the total number is redacted.
💣Hello?! The FBI had no incidents with targeting (because they can target whoever they want) BUT wait they did have issues with minimization IMPROPER requests on U.S persons that had nothing to do with foreign intel? Then they downplay it with a redic example.
Keep in mind two things:
1- The report opened with “everything is great”
2- NSA is the only one technically that can unmask
Then look at this pie chart of “compliance incidents” 39% minimization doesn’t seem like everything is great.
Anyway. There’s probably more missed but I’d rather watch paint dry than pour through this repetitive, redacted bonanza. Wondering if Coats leaving rumors were on the day DJT got the report. Enjoy👇**said no one ever
dni.gov/files/icotr/18…
**Disclaimer- I’m no expert on these things just breaking down what I see, curious to hear thoughts if anyone else makes it through that wildly repetitive 65 pages.
