It’s actually a very positive sign North Korea did not shoot it down.
After all, North Korea shot down a US helicopter that strayed into the DMZ just a few months after signing the Agreed Framework. Maybe the KPA is slipping.

(I am kidding about the KPA slipping. Razorback 19 ventured about five times deeper into North Korea than the fire-fighting helicopter, five miles instead of one. Should have used an emoji.)

When North Korea broke its voluntary flight test moratorium in 2006, it did so in steps, starting with an SRBM in the spring and ending with a test of Scuds, Nodongs and a Teapodong-2 on July 4. I presume North Korea today is working upward. (1/2)
At the time, the Bush Administration downplayed the first test of the KN-02 in March. Then, as now, the moratorium only covered longer-range missiles. But in hindsight, it was a warning of the fireworks to come in July. (2/2)

This is now the second time that North Korean state media has directly stated that Pompeo is misrepresenting North Korea’s position on denuclearization, making it clear that North Korea is not offering to disarm.

Loved listening to @SamAllberry at Word Alive this week. Always enjoy listening to him preach on any subject -but on being single in Evangelical churches, something I have long felt that is not the safe family it should be for singles- was a special treat!
Just reached the section on the Difficulties of Singleness in his book (7 myths about Singleness), with every word ringing painfully true. Particularly when it came to losing your closest friends to marriage and children. The pain of being so much less needed than you need them.
Totally unashamed to admit there's been some unrestrained weeping in my chalet (I'm alone, it's me.) The Carrie English quote telling us we're allowed to be platonically heartbroken when our friends marry is something I really needed to hear.

You will never understand how deplorable Nigeria’s Healthcare is until you have a close relation down with an illness.
It can take 3months for one single diagnosis & we would blame patients for presenting late.
No! It’s the system! We’ve lost hugely to our poor healthcare.
We can never have a prosperous country with this kind of healthcare system. A system where EMERGENCY 🚨 does not mean anything to anyone in the system. Patients had wait for over 3months to get as simple as Colonoscopy Done. You come today, they said no. It must be on THURSDAYS.
If you don’t come on Thursday, you can’t get this done! Well, the wealthy patients would simply zoom off to private facilities to get this done. The poor ones would take their VERY SICK ones home or to one PASTOR or BABA. If the system were good, Babas would be out of business.

In other 538 news, we've improved our NBA projections to reflect injuries and lineup changes. For instance, the program knows that the Warriors are pretty mediocre right now with Curry/Draymond/Cousins out, but will be very good once at full strength. 53eig.ht/2En8Fdc
We're also now accounting for the fact that teams use shorter rotations in the playoffs. This helps top-heavy teams like GSW and HOU as opposed to deeper ones like TOR, although don't worry because our model will never get over its love of the Raptors.
p.s. Sometimes injuries can HELP teams because they were playing unproductive players—the 76ers are helped by not having Markelle Fultz in their rotation, for instance.

A few thoughts on this, assuming all the facts in this story are accurate (as they are based on comments from the president's lawyers, that is not a given):
(1) A show of strength on the part of the White House would be to release the answers publicly. If that happens, and I don't expect it to happen, that would be a real sign that the president's lawyers see no exposure on the Russia side of this investigation.
(2) It is significant that, at least according to this story, they appear to be answering questions only on the Russia side, not the obstruction side. If that's correct, it leaves Mueller with an interesting choice on obstruction: whether to pursue answers further or not.
