Step1⃣: Start with creating a #Threejs-Compatible #UV Mapped 3D Object in #Blender.

➡️Download a 3D model
➡️Unwrap UVs in Blender to Create a UV map
➡️Export the UV Map as a #PNG file
➡️Create the UV Image with an Image Editing Software

Step2⃣: Importing the UV Image into Blender as glTF Material.

➡️Download the KhronosGroup glTF Blender Exporter plugin
➡️In Blender, append the glTF Blender Exporter file’s glTF to a material.
➡️ In the Node Editor, connect the image and the material.

i've tweeted about it a fair bit already, but i modeled & textured almost every object in "i don't think i've walked this stretch of road before" in #crocotile3d, an exceedingly rad #lowpoly, tile-based 3D design tool by @SpectreSkully

coming from a 2d #pixelart context, constructing volumes *from* tiles was remarkably accessible. as i got a lil more comfortable, distorting & dividing geometry & watching the ensuing texture chaos was a great way to learn more about uvs, etc

even without any conscious focus on optimization, i find that crocotile constantly encourages me to be thoughtful & sparing with color & form, & to squeeze use & value out of the same tiny tiles over & over

There's no normals nor displacements, just a good seamless texture, UVs and vertex tweaking ✨

First create a fine texture, chose the scale of your details, and iterate on UV layout 🏁

(It's ok for me to spend time painting, but "art is always stealing" or watev🧑‍🎨)

I got asked about my sculpting workflow in Blender, so I'd thought I'd share some quick notes

When I start with a character I am usually exploring the size relation between the different body parts. I REALLY recommend that you use separate objects for each body part volume.

The different parts becomes so much more easy to manage and you don't accidentally move things around that you don't want to touch. Being able to use geometrical intersection between objects is a HUGE advantage when using 3d as a art medium.
