As my favorite #AlocasiaSarian leaf begins to wilt and fade (yes, I have a favorite) there is all sorts of new life.

Until an alocasia plant gets firmly established, it is common that they kill off older leaves/stalks as new ones emerge. So, the dying of this leaf (the last of the original leaves on the plant when I bought it) signifies new life.
New stalks emerge from the backs of older stalks in Alocasia. In the first photo, 1 gave birth to 2, which gave birth to 3.
Pinky swear. This emerging #AlocasiaSarian leaf was the size of my pinky finger just one week ago. Now, it’s over 14” (36cm) and still hasn’t finished emerging.

I love #Alocasia and #AlocasiaSarian is named after Filipino agriculture journalist @zacbsarian. I’m going to name this particular one ‘Zac’ in his honor.

This plant will grow up to six feet tall indoors and up to 15 feet tall outdoors in the right conditions.
