Ukraine receives supplies of military aid from allies and counterparts. Meanwhile, Russia shows signs of something like 'bipolar disorder' on the scale of the state. Isn't it a sign of fear? 1/4 #UW_InfoWatch #AgainstRussianLies
Firstly, as Russians claim, new weapons for Ukraine "won't change" the course of the #RussiaUkraineWar️. Why were the propagandists so hysterical about that? 2/4 #ArmUkraine #StandWithUkraine
Later, Peskov assured that NATO arms deliveries would "add problems" for the Ukrainian people but wouldn't prevent Russia from achieving the "special military operation" goals.

As well with other Western countries, the United States actively supports Ukraine after Russia launched “a special military operation to protect the civilian population of Donbas.” #AgainstRussianLies #UW_InfoWatch
The country will continue to provide military support to Ukraine for as long as necessary. The tank supply to Ukraine is not an escalation, it is a response to Russia’s actions. #ArmUkraine #StandWithUkraine
However, according to Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Sergei Ryabkov, the United States is supplying its Abrams tanks in order to "trim the NATO line.” #RussiaIsLosing

You might have seen my April thread where I told the story of how my family got Russified throughout the XX century. I mentioned that my family started speaking more Ukrainian at home.

9 months later, we are all Ukrainian-only speakers.
Let me share what it feels like.

A 🧵
First of all, if you haven't read that thread, I urge you to go and read it first since it gives a lot of historical and political context of languages in Ukraine.

The story of my family's linguistic journey is common in Ukraine, but it's still one of many stories.
Now, back in April, I wrote this about my family's switch to Ukrainian:

During the last 3 months, I've met many politicians & public officials across the world. Some officials wonder why Ukrainians, especially civil society, are so pushy regarding weapons support from allies. Does civil society actually have to deal with #ArmUkraine?
Russia has started the full-scale genocidal war in Ukraine. My last 117 mornings are starting with reading necrologies on social media. Thousands of people are dying because they are Ukrainians. They could be alive if Armed Forces of Ukraine had enough weapons
Now russia is not hiding they are using famine across the poorest countries in the world as warfare. This is much bigger than the genocidal war in Ukraine, this is a war against the developing world and the basic values of the free democratic world.

What Ukraine needs asap to win the war: Military #Aircraft (Сombat Aircraft)

You might have seen that 🇺🇲 is already helping a lot. This is true. #Ukrainians are thankful a lot. But it’s not enough for #Ukraine to protect the whole world from a massive threat to humanity.
(1/9)
Fighters are needed to establish air superiority, protect critical infrastructure and ground troops, prevent hostile bombing attacks, intercept cruise missiles, counter enemy’s airborne operations and to escort friendly attack aircraft..
(2/9)
Ground attack aircraft and fighter-bombers are intended to engage enemy’s ground objects, concentrations of troops and vehicles and provide close air support to friendly ground units.

⚡What #Ukraine needs asap to win the war: Air-Defense Systems.
@KpsZSU

You might have seen that the US is already helping a lot. This is true. #Ukrainians are thankful a lot. But it’s not enough for 🇺🇦 to protect the whole world from a massive threat to humanity.
(1/9)
🇷🇺air force is enormous, over 10 times as large as @KpsZSU. Without sufficient anti-aircraft systems, 🇷🇺will have free reign to destroy everything – artillery, command posts, tanks and entire 🇺🇦 cities.
(2/9)
That is precisely why at the beginning of the invasion 🇷🇺 was trying hard to achieve air dominance. If they succeed, it will just be a matter of time until 🇷🇺wins the war.

What #Ukraine needs asap to win the war: heavy #artillery
You might have seen that 🇺🇲 is already helping a lot. This is true. #Ukrainians are thankful a lot. But it’s not enough for 🇺🇦 to protect the whole world from a massive threat to humanity.
(1/8)
Artillery is the “bread and butter” of war. Ukraine’s “main” artillery calibers are 122 and 152 mm. The problem with 152 mm is that #Ukraine DOES NOT produce ammo of this type (all it has is the legacy from the Soviet war machine).
(2/8)
Thus, even though 🇺🇦has 152 mm cannons, it is quickly running out of ammo. Given the intensity of the conflict, it won’t be long before 🇺🇦 doesn’t have any 152 mm ammo left. If that happens, 🇺🇦 forces won’t be able to shoot back, and 🇷🇺artillery will overwhelm them.

Why we need to #ArmUkraineNow :: daily thread #6
Tens of thousands estimated dead, far more under Russian boots and hundreds in bunkers being bombed in #Mariupol, unreachable because Ukraine doesn’t have the firepower to rescue them.

We should have two months ago, but...
#ArmUkraineNow /2
The purpose here isn't to document daily horrors, but a reminder to direct our collective frustrations toward pressuring our representatives to do the right thing, so Ukrainian lives stop being ruined & cut short.

THAT's why we need to...

This 👇 piece contains some dangerous assumptions, which appear to be gaining traction in Washington DC thinking regarding Russia's war against Ukraine. 🧵 #StopRussia #ArmUkraine 1/ atlanticcouncil.org/blogs/ukrainea…
First, the view that US/NATO should refrain from enforcing a #NoFlyZone over Ukraine due to the risk of an all out NATO-Russia war is "mired in appeasement thinking". 2/
Wrong. It has nothing to do with appeasing Russia. There is a very real risk of tipping Russian decision making across the nuclear threshold. A #NFZ involves US/NATO combat missions against Russian aircraft, ground-based and naval air defence systems, and airfields. 3/

I am speechless. Ukraine is a battlefield of democracy against autocracy. The West either sides with Ukraine taking real, meaningful, effective actions now, or will eventually lose the rules-based order and safety for generations to come

This list was put together in Aug. Since then the situation has only worsened 🧵

Russia weaponized gas, attacked more #CrimeanTatars, shut down prominent NGOs, orchestrated migrants crisis w/ Lukashenka's hands, never stopped cyber attacks, fueled antivax campaigns etc /1
Lack of punishment for Putin's aggression brought us here: to the edge of large-scale European war. Russia amasses troops & weapons at the UA border & explicitly threatens to further invade & destroy Ukraine: they put all necessary resources in place to begin it right away /2
Brave #UkrainiansWillResist. No doubt. We have been doing it for almost 8yrs so far.

But as the bully can still be deterred, all efforts should go there:
