This is an SOS. The #AssamFloods have wreaked havoc. The Cachar Cancer Centre in Silchar has faced enormous challenges in continuing with cancer care amidst very difficult situations. This thread is an entreaty to all of you to support them (donation link at end of the thread)1/n
There is a severe shortage of all supplies – food, water (yes, safe water is an essential commodity during floods), diesel, life-jackets, and many more. Repair and rehabilitation is urgently required. 2/n
The hospital and their dedicated staff are working overtime to ensure continuation of cancer care, while simultaneously caring for their patients and staff to ensure they are safe from the ravages of the flood. 3/n

Left permanently to my home after 5months of lockdown.
During my travel crossed Bihar NH57 and stayed in a resort.
Observation-
entire 150km NH everywhere where ur eye can go only water water, in short I can say everything is submerged.
A lot of people lost life, home
But it's no where on National media as major issue, very few or rare celebrity coming forward during this crisis.
It was really very sad and painful to see villagers living on NH, saw women's children sitting roadside,
At the same time was asking myself, how I can help them
I don't know whether donation goes to these people or not, as still I don't know what and how corona fund are being utilised(have donated well so it's my right to understand and it's govt right to put it in public domain).
Corona - increasing rapidly, beleive it or not -

Why we need local media: News18 India hosts inane debates on Hindu-Muslim, its Assamese counterpart provides in-depth, consistent and extensive reportage on #AssamFloods
newslaundry.com/2020/07/29/ass…
Unlike its Delhi counterpart, busy singing paeans to BJP, News18 Assam did not shy away from focusing on the discontent of the state’s residents. It showed frustrated citizens chanting “Himanta Biswa Sarma! Go back, go back!”
Leading dailies Asom Protidin & Amar Asom were consistent in passing the mic to the people so they could voice their demands. Reports highlighted lack of govt action, such as this one below about a starving family in Nalbari, Barpeta, who stayed in tiny shelters with their cattle Image

Not declared a national problem yet!!
Flood in Assam is a very serious problem. It occurs almost every year. People of Assam are really frustrated and have dealt with a lot of devastation due to floods. I have some points which according to me should be the reason why we should declare it a national problem.
1. Floods cause devastating havoc every year. Lakhs of people becomes homeless, lakhs people die & not only people but innocent animals also suffers.

2. Assam is the doorway to the NE . If Assam always suffer from flood then the connection between NE & India will be in a danger.

@news24tvchannel @manakgupta today’s 8.00 pm feature and its tag line “बहते शहर डूबता चीन” was in a very bad taste. You are showing as if China has been punished by God through this disaster. Celebratory bullet points of havoc created by a disaster to grab viewers.Shameful!
All this while our own country is fighting severe floods across various states. You should be ashamed of yourself to have stooped to the levels of @ZeeNews or @republic. Or is it coz you’ve realised that this is the only type of content that sells in our country
