In spite of the pandemic induced push towards digitalisation, rural connectivity remains poor. According to TRAI data, Odisha has an average of 46.92 (36.99 in rural areas) web connections per 100 people, compared to the national average of 58.51 (Dec '20)

Furthermore, out of the 53,260 government schools in Odisha, only 1450 (2.72%) have internet facilities as of June ‘21! The implementation of the #BharatNet project has been poor, as noted by the CAG and the Standing Committee on Information Technology.
