Citizens of #NorthShropshire. What can you do to deprive Tories of power?
1. Pressure oppo parties to co-operate. To make cross-party plan based on local voting behaviour & needs #ProgressiveAlliance.
2. Campaign for tactical voting. Ideally combined with 1.
@chilterns4
Local people can come together to:
1. Encourage @NShropshire_CLP @DemsNorth @NShropsGreens to co-operate. (P.S. don't be put off by @UKLabour saying their party rules don't let them. Time for excuses is over).
2. Encourage people to vote tactically.

@Neal_Compass I live in #CheshamAndAmersham @derek_rocholl. Campaigned for tactical voting in 2019. Now campaigning for #ProgressiveAlliance. In recent by-election, we needed some votes from @conservatives. These would never have voted @UKLabour. This is why local plans are needed
@chilterns4
@Neal_Compass @derek_rocholl @Conservatives @UKLabour @chilterns4 Also, in 2019, we campaigned for tactical voting in 4 Chilterns constituencies. Lack of reciprocity lost us all four seats. @libdems would not stand aside in High Wycombe because @UKLabour would not stand aside in Chesham and Amersham. Frankly, absurd, irresponsible @chilterns4
@Neal_Compass @derek_rocholl @Conservatives @UKLabour @chilterns4 @LibDems Frankly I NEVER want to feel what I felt the day after 2019 election. Wandering dazed through Chesham. Seeing the damage the @conservatives had done/would do. Feeling devastated. Knowing that if there had been cooperation then we would have won at least High Wycombe @chilterns4

The #CheshamAndAmersham result is more than just a mid-term protest vote or one simply about local issues (HS2, planning). It’s a clear rejection of the insular nationalist policies & corrupt incompetence of the Tory Govt. Similar results are possible across the south of England
This great result for @SarahGreenLD is part of a trend we detected in Wokingham in the 2019 GE. The scale of yesterday’s by-election win indicates the ‘fear of Corbyn’ factor was significant. It also confirms that to change the Govt at the next GE we’ll need an electoral alliance
A large number of former Tory voters still have no one to vote for. Yesterday’s result was more a vote against the Tories than a vote for an alternative. The @LibDems must now deliver policies to keep these politically-homeless voters. Such delivery is key to winning big in 2024

Spanish word of the day is - CACA #CheshamAndAmersham
Thanks to the many people who told me this and my daughter who confirmed it to me on the way to her Spanish test
Presumably the derivative of "cack" as in a "load of old cack"

Why did the voters of True Blue Tory #CheshamAndAmersham go #LibDems this time? Here’s my take (tldr - much more than nimbyism)
First, obvs, it’s a by-election, the message that “this won’t change the Gov’t but can change how they see us” resonated, and the Libdems had a brilliant candidate, good recent local elections and a ton of helpers piling in. Tories seemed complacent, voters like to be wooed.
NIMBY issues were part of the campaign - impossible to ignore HS2 locally and it affects the Tory villages more than the towns. Planning concerns showed here - as across SE in May’s elections - but far from the whole story.
