#willwritesandcodes #100DaysofCode #Day31

Uninstalled and reinstalled @ProgrammingHero again, did the exam for #Cpp course, and it still crashed at the end.

:/

It could be my phone. I'll have to try installing it on another device. Still a bummer screenshot of the error message as programming hero app cras
Also resinstalled the very different app, @Prghub, which has much shorter courses and as a result felt deceptive about how much you were learning. I haven't uses it in over a year for sure. They have a bunch of new courses. I'll try some-I don't know if I'll keep at it w this app
#willwritesandcodes #100DaysofWriting #Day23-#Day27, need to keep track of how much I write and where. I kind of write a lot, but not always towards the goals I want to write toward. So I'm writing this tweet to stand in for missing those days' record while noting that I do write

The #EnvironmentBill is back in @UKHouseofLords for the next round of debates.

Some hot topics today, including the independence of the Office for Environmental Protection & how to put the environment at the heart of policy making.

Tune in till 10pm👇

parliamentlive.tv/Event/Index/dd…
The first debate kicks off with @GreenJennyJones talking about the "lack of bite" in the #EnvironmentBill

She criticises the "weaselly squirming" wording on environmental principles.

A stronger framework is needed to put the environment at the heart of the government's policy.
Now @kateparminter highlights further flaws in the #EnvironmentBill on environmental principles:

📒 the absence of public bodies
⚖️ the excessive use of proportionality
🪖 the blanket exemption of defence and spending/taxation policy

2/5 "Where #NatureBasedSolutions are used as
carbon #offsets, they are most effective when applied
subject to strict conditions and exclusions"
=> In case anyone had any doubt left that #NatureBasedSolutions included offsetting
3/5 "For #biodiversity, the concept of #offsets, the substitutability among a slate of possible actions, can introduce the flexibility required to achieve multiple competing objectives at regional scale, if applied subject to strict conditions & exclusions"

This is the first dedicated #EnvironmentBill for over 20 years

1/7 The #Dasgupta report, commissioned the the Treasury, concludes our economic system places an economic value on nature and biodiversity of £0.00. Businesses may exploit it and will not be required to pay theguardian.com/environment/20…
2/7 Of course someone has to pay, and its us - wider society. Loss of nature (our life support system) means food insecurity (no insects to pollinate, soil destroyed by chemicals), dirty water and poor air quality. It threatens our life on earth - the poorest first
3/7 Globally, businesses are paid £3-4tn in subsidies to destroy nature. Try explaining that to our children. An example of solutions: In the UK farm subsidies are changing - there will be no subsidy unless farmers contribute to biodiversity, clean water and air..
