@ahillslegal @LisaR8624 Few things

building safety risk is classed as a risk arising from

I) fire spread

II) structural collapse or partial collapse

Not risks of damp or mould etc

Note limit to ā€œfire spread riskā€ not ignitability, combustibility or flammability.

Fancy legalese again by @govuk
@ahillslegal @LisaR8624 @GOVUK Ok assuming the material had a potential to ignite, combust etc

Are they only looking at the consequences of the spread and not the probability

Will they introduce risk grades low, medium, high or very high

Which ones will make the cut for funding - all, some, very high etc
@ahillslegal @LisaR8624 @GOVUK What test or performance standard will be applied to fire spread risk

Inhibit, restrict, limit to first item, component, compartment or other extent

Interesting fire spread picks-up not only cladding, balconies, insulation but cavity barriers & then compartments, fire doors etc

14 months ago I shared a concept with insurance industry & others for indemnifying individual #EWS1 forms/surveys. It was slapped down. Today I hear this is essentially the @luhc scheme to launch by Easter. Hey ho.
In addition to the indemnity (making #EWS1 worth something) there was also counter fraud and quality control benefits as dodgy surveys would not be insurable. This also appears to be being partially adopted by @luhc
Here is an @BldgSafetyReg blog on #EWS1 Fraud from Oct 2020 that includes a section on #Insurance buildingsafetyregister.org/news/ews1-frauā€¦

@claddingscanda1 Why?

Legacy concerns over security or arson risks

convenient FOI blocking strategy for an embattled @GOVUK

All of which is ridiculous when national enforcement registers are a) required by law to be in the public domain
b) list full details

@claddingscanda1 @GOVUK Given the sensitivity of this subject matter here are some useful links signposted to allow more informed positions.

Hereā€™s an informative article from @kentfirerescue on enforcement policy & key enforcement considerations.

@claddingscanda1 @GOVUK @kentfirerescue All statutory enforcement agencies are bounded by legislation & a clear regulators code.

Primary legislation- Legislative and Regulatory Reform Act 2006

Well, weā€™ve just joined the horror of the #EWS1 life. 9 months after accepting an offer our buyer lost his mortgage today, two weeks from completion. Weā€™ve lost our dream home & another family lost theirs. Ā£3k spent for absolutely nothing. #EndOurCladdingScandal
Told by our management company that we had ā€˜nothing to worry aboutā€™. No cladding on building. Freeholder then arranged #EWS1 half way through process of our sale (with costs passed to leaseholders), which then came back with a B2 rating due to the insulation used behind render.
Despite the fact there were no interim measures required, as the building achieved a safety standard that limited the spread of fire, we still received a B2 rating which now means all 112 apartments in our building are deemed ā€˜unmortgageableā€™ #EndOurCladdingScandal

@sarahjolney1 @mhclg 1/3 Sadly waking watch relief fund should be called the fire alarm relief fund

Iā€™d surmise @govuk had the Ā£30mil in contingency, they know fine well @mhclg backed @lgahousing guidance repeatedly stressed communal fire alarms = false fire alarms (see heard and embedded posts)
@sarahjolney1 @mhclg @GOVUK @lgahousing 2/3 @mhclg have been very sly in down grading the standards in the building safety fund from new build combustible cladding ban to intended pre #grenfell standards

This reduces the number to blocks in scope for limited funding & demand on sector = quicker recovery

Is it safe?
@sarahjolney1 @mhclg @GOVUK @lgahousing 3/3 Why is @mhclg gifting @RICSnews Ā£700k of public funds for #EWS1 which remains open to fraud

When Australian - Victoria came up with a more robust federal audit regime in Nov 2017

+ no ghastly wait on #Hackitt white elephant or new Legislation - when operation clean sweep

Post-Grenfell, thousands of us still live in flammable homes, for which we were never responsible & are now liable for financial cost, untold stress & inability to move. The silence has been deafening, govt urgency lacking. End the hidden housing scandal.

Huge appreciation for the tireless efforts of @insidehousing @PeteApps to keep drawing attention to the extent of the #claddingscandal. Thanks also now to @Lees_Martina @thesundaytimes for pushing this new campaign. There is no excuse, none, for @mhclg @RobertJenrick to ignore.
Glad so many names supporting #EndOurCladdingScandal, incl @SadiqKhan @AndyBurnhamGM @MikeAmesburyMP , former UNSR for Housing @leilanifarha. But, where are the rest?

Over 3 years, as the developers responsible just keep on building - did Govt just pretend not to see us all?

@hmtreasury @GOVUK will soon be making a profit out of the #BuildingSafety Crisis! Simple maths for the moment, would welcome help from an economist to validate. Pls share THREAD šŸ‘‡
Ā£1.6bn of taxpayer funding pledged to #ACM fund (Ā£600m) and #BuildingSafety fund (Ā£1bn) assuming this is all spent @hmtreasury could receive back šŸ‘‡
Ā£320m in VAT Ā£200m Tax/NI from project workers, Ā£100m Corporation Tax from remediation firms. So Ā£1.6bn becomes Ā£980m. This is further reduced by šŸ‘‡
