1. Here is the first example of the text being taken mostly verbatim (the blue text) from John O. Reid. There were no quotation marks given, and no introduction before the comment to indicate that it was in fact from Reid.
2. Here is the second, drawing the words and ideas from Reid, again without attribution.
3. And here is the third, the most obvious of all.

When these passages were given in the oral talk itself, there was no mention of Reid until after the first two, and no quotation marks at all when it was first published on the church's website.

3 Important Truths about Jesus as the Christ:
First, when we try to help someone we love come unto Christ, we can do so with confidence that He has the capacity to lift the burden of sin and to forgive.
#ElderMcConkie #GeneralConference 1/3
Second, when we bring physical, emotional, or other illnesses to Christ, we can do so knowing He has the power to heal and comfort.
#ElderMcConkie #GeneralConference 2/3
Third, when we make effort like the four to bring others to Christ, we can do so with certainty that He sees our true intentions and will appropriately honor them.

Tl;dr President Oaks is wrong about queer people.

He ain't say anything new, but he didn't really need to. He validated the church's queerphobia by putting God's name on it multiple times. No scriptures quoted. Just divine hearsay. #GeneralConference
In next Sunday's Come Follow Me lesson, we'll read about the Israelites failing some significant tests, even though they were told what would be on the test. The same folks that walked across the Red Sea would complain against God twice about similar crises.
They doubt what God could do because they forgot what God had done.

I see members of my church do similar things today. They act brand new when queer folks expect to be treated like human beings, meanwhile we've had the necessary revelation to pass this test for centuries.

Did you know it’s possible to build a testimony of the gospel apart from your own emotional responses? Some of us are cerebral beings. Instead of adding reason to our faith, we add faith to our reason. We begin with experimentation, practice, logic, & then step into the unknown.
This is not to say feeling will never happen: for most people it’s inevitable. But my emotional responses are a byproduct of spiritual confirmation, they are not spiritual confirmation in themselves.
If I sense a tingling rush of “knowing” energy, my physical body is responding to the Spirit. If I weep, my emotions are responding to learning or remembering by the Spirit. It’s not the feelings that reveal truth—truth often produces emotional overwhelm. & sometimes it doesn’t.

We can suppose from Pres. Nelson’s #GeneralConference remarks that there are young men among us who haven’t signed on for missions merely bc they’re dragging their feet & need a boost of initiative. There are also many who cannot serve or aren’t quite there yet. Don’t judge them.
There are YSAs who have mental or physical ailments they don’t talk about. Some are still gaining or strengthening their testimonies. There are some w/life situations where their service at home is already imperative. Whatever the reason, your judgment won’t help their progress.
Pres. Nelson’s admonishment to serve a mission was a personal plea to those for whom it applies, & they know who they are. If they don’t, the Spirit will soon notify them. It was not license for you to notify everyone in your sphere of influence when you don’t have all the data.

“In matters of covenantal purity, the sacred is too often being made common, the holy is too often being made profane. To any who are tempted to walk, talk or behave in these ways—don’t expect it to lead to peaceful experience; I promise you in the name of the Lord, it won’t.”

Elder Holland seemed sad this #GeneralConference. I think we underestimate the weight of burden on the backs of the GAs. It must be a bit like like Moses coming down from Sinai w/God’s word to deliver & finding Israel dancing riotously before an idol.
Moses beholding the wicked scene from the mount, Noah rebuffing a people so wicked that God would destroy them with flood, Moroni watching his people sin themselves to destruction—general societal soul-sickness creates a great deal of heartsickness in disciples of Christ.

#DToddChristofferson said in his #GeneralConference talk that staying on the covenant path will help us “bypass the people & things that, even if popular, would jeopardize our physical & spiritual well-being.” Seeking refuge in what’s popular is human nature. And it’s dangerous.
Worldly power builds around the rickety scaffolding of popularity. The more people shunted into a tribe (however they arrived) the greater that faction’s societal influence. So power-mongers create a climate of fear outside the tribe & promises of safety under their own banner.
He whose power banner looms the largest collects the most followers. The more populous the tribe, the larger it will grow; isolation from the pack makes one vulnerable. We surrender principle for the illusion of safety. It’s natural. Hence “the natural man” is God’s enemy—& ours.

When this was released, it seemed rather dull to me. Why a proclamation abt practices already common to most of the civilized world? But here we are. & here I am, tweeting it all:

The Family: A Proclamation to the World

First Presidency & Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
Sept 1995
“We, The First Presidency & the Council of the 12 Apostles, of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, solemnly proclaim that marriage between a man & a woman is ordained of God & that the family is central to the Creator’s plan for the eternal destiny of His children.”
“All Human Beings—male & female—are created in the image of God. Each is a beloved spirit son or daughter of heavenly parents, & as such, each has a divine nature & destiny. Gender is an essential characteristic of individual premortal, mortal, and eternal identity & purpose.”

1/3 Elder @Ulisses__Soares analogy of a magnet: "Metaphorically speaking, yielding to temptation is

3/3 "Therefore, just as the magnet is unable to exercise power over a faraway metal object, as we resist temptation, it fades away and loses its power over our mind and heart, and consequently, over our actions."

Elder @OaksDallinH: "We live in a time of anger and hatred in political relationships and policies. We felt it this summer where some went beyond peaceful protests and engaged in destructive behavior. We feel it in some current campaigns for public offices." #GeneralConference Image

I'd like to challenge anyone out there curious about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, to a 3 month experiment.

Live like we live for the next 3 months & then tune in to #GeneralConference in October. Experience what we experience and know for yourself. #DezNat
Live our law of health. Pay a full tithe, read the scriptures and pray daily. Read and ponder the Book of Mormon, live the law of chastity, give service to others. Attend our meetings
And then in October, listen to our Prophet and Apostles and their inspired messages.

I have every confidence that you'll come to know what I know, as I know it.

And if you decide it's not for you, you'll have had a beautiful experience and a deeper understanding of who we are

Gracious God. On this fine #GeneralConference morning we pray that Zach eats an entire bag of dicks and then chooses to silence himself forever.
We pray that someone will point out to Zach that if he hears 32 men and 4 women speak at a conference, and he's only bothered by the women's voices, then there is a 100% chance that he's a raging misogynist who deeply hates women.
When Zach claims he's not a sexist asshole, and that women are just doing it wrong, please help him be reminded that he could easily go through the #ldsconf archives and listen to every woman speaker and share examples of the women's voices that *don't* bother him.
