That’s how many COVID-related deaths the US had from the start of Jan through data released yesterday Feb 18.

2,244 deaths a day.

1,405 was Trump’s average.

You don’t know/feel this from media coverage or from Dem Governor policies because a Democrat is in the WH.
1,321 is the average daily COVID deaths under Biden.

1,405 is Trump’s average.

Biden’s number is a drop of only 6% from Trump which included panicked months of the virus being new while most of Biden’s months had vaccinations.

When will Fauci be fired?
In January of this year, NYC had 32.1% more COVID deaths than last year January without vaccine passes back then, while FL was 33.5% lower this Jan compared to last year January.

Vaccines protect against severe illness. Data from 374 hospitalized COVID patients at Spectrum Health in Michigan. 99 patients are currently in the ICU. Of those, 90% are unvaccinated. Vaccinated = 2 dose Pfizer/Moderna or 1 dose J&J. #GetBoostedNow
Vaccinated patients with breakthrough hospitalizations are, on average, 8 years older (64 vs. 56) and have an average of 5 co-morbidities compared to 2 for unvaccinated patients.

We have updated self-isolation guidance. From today, if you have COVID, it is possible to end SI after 7 days rather than 10, as long as you have two negative LFD tests *taken 24 hours apart*. gov.uk/government/pub…
🧵1/13
You can now take an LFD test from the 6th day of SI, and another 24 hrs later. If both are negative, *and you do not have a high temperature*, you can end SI *after the 2nd -ve test result*. Many COVID symptoms can last a long time but this does not = still infectious 2/13
Count your isolation period from the day your symptoms started. If you didn’t have any symptoms but you have a positive test (LFD or PCR), count from the day of the first positive test. This is effectively “day zero” 3/13

With #Omicron rapidly spreading nationwide, I am concerned about all the members of our communities with damage and injury in the immune system, particularly to cell-mediated injury (to T cells and Ab-producing cells). In neutralization studies, most monoclonal Abs used to date
2/ have lost activity to #Omicron and are no longer useful in areas with high attack rates (pretty much everywhere in US right now). There are two possible exceptions. The first is #sotrovimab which was originally isolated from an individual with
3/ #SARSCoV1 (not a typo) back in 2003. The Ab recognizes a conserved glycan motif at the base of the Spike protein (away from the ACE-2 receptor-binding domain). Extremely limited supplies and fairly narrow emergency use authorization, as follows:

The other day, I tweeted about a recent study that adds to a growing body of evidence demonstrating the effectiveness of masks in preventing the spread of COVID-19...

Here it is again--note that it's not a naturalistic or epidemiologic study, but a modeling study based on known information about the penetration of SARS-CoV-2 sized particles through N95/KN95 masks.

Now, my tweet only got 178 engagements, 22 likes, 18 retweets, and 2 replies to date, so it didn't make it very far in the Twitterverse.

But it did catch the attention of this one guy who responded: "lol. k"...

Good afternoon @Conservatives👋

In the last week myself & countless colleagues + 1000s of wonderful volunteers have been BOMBARDED by requests to DROP EVERYTHING & help w/ the mission for all adults to #GetBoostedNow, many of us giving up much needed days off.

Volunteers are needed for everything from car park attendants, to clearer uppers, through IT/admin experts to clinicians….there is a job for literally anyone (other than Mark Francois😳), who can spare a few hours!

So, could I make a polite request & ask (with absolutely no due respect) that rather than offering 👏👏👏s with one hand & the perfect storm of unmitigated uncontrolled #COVID19 spread & an #NHS in crisis with the other…

I wanted to share one more figure from the #Omicron pre-print that I think offers some additional support for the idea that mRNA boosting doesn't just increase the total neutralizing response but instead "broadens" it to enable Omicron neuralization:
What these graphs show is a comparison of neutralization activity against the original strain (wild type) on the X axis and either Delta or Omicron on the Y axis. White dots represent samples from recently vaccinated, black squares from recently boosted individuals.
If you look at the slope of the dashed line through the white dots, you'll see that it's quite flat (especially for Omicron). This means that after getting the primary series of shots, neutralizing activity against wild type doesn't really predict the activity against variants.
