On 12 April, Mannu lal Soni trader of Gold jewellery in Sarafa Bazar, Jhansi was looted by 4 gunmen - Girvar Rajput, Om Babu Yadav, Parvat Kushwaha and Kaushal Yadav.

Munna lal reported to the police about this loot, police immediately registered FIR against 4 accused and started investigating the matter.

Sadashiv Rao Malkapurkar (photo from a biopic on Chandrashekhar #Azad). He was the ONLY person Azad ever introduced to his parents. He took care of Azad's mother after his release like a son. She died with her head in his lap on March 21, 1953. He performed her last rites.

Master Rudranarayan who helped Azad go underground in #Jhansi after #Kakori robbery on August 9, 1925. He wanted to create a memorial for Azad & his mother in #Bhabra in March 1953, after Jagrani Devi died. Nehru threatened him with jail but he defied Nehru & did it anyway!

Bhagwas Das Mahour, one of the three muskateers (Vishwanath Vaisampayan, Sadashiv Rao Malkapurkar and himself). After conviction and sentence for his role in the #Bhusawal Bomb case, he married Master Rudranarayan's daughter and helped Malkapurkar take care of Azad's mother.

First pit-stop on my #ExploreUP journey, Bhitargaon in #Kanpurdehat. Amidst squalor, in a village seemingly over-run by a combo of buffaloes & pigs, stands what may be north India's oldest existing temple. This brick temple dedicated to Vishnu dates to Gupta period, 6th century.

#ExploreUP: Having read abt a Lodi-era tomb at #Kalpi, #Jalaun dist, I expected it to be in line with the octagonal Lodi-Sur era tombs elsewhere in India. It turned out to be quite different. Locals call it the Chaurasi (84) gumbad.

#ExploreUP: The tomb @ #Kalpi, was described as that of a 'Lodi Badshah'. Aware that of the three Lodi rulers, two buried in Delhi & third in #Panipat, was puzzled abt the Kalpi person. Turns out to be a brother of Ibrahim named Jalaluddin who propped himself as ruler for a while
