Pack your bags and make sure you’re booked in the Pineapple Suite, because there’s more of “The White Lotus” on the way. latimes.com/entertainment-…
The cast includes Connie Britton as a Sheryl Sandberg-esque tech executive, Jennifer Coolidge as a woman messily grieving the death of her mother, and Murray Bartlett as the tightly wound manager of the resort. latimes.com/entertainment-…
Unlike other shows about the ultra-wealthy, #TheWhiteLotus is anything but lifestyle porn: It portrays a tropical retreat for the 1% as a simmering cauldron of class conflict, environmental despair and white privilege. latimes.com/entertainment-…

Hoping for #MareofEasttown to come back? Kate Winslet and “Mare” creator Brad Ingelsby have talked and texted regularly about what a second chapter might look like.

So yeah, you can pretty much count on a Season 2. latimes.com/entertainment-…
When #MareofEasttown wrapped production last year, Kate Winslet had no idea how she could go about being herself again. It genuinely freaked her out. latimes.com/entertainment-…
Winslet didn’t want to break the spell of what Mare had meant to her so she didn’t want to see anyone who didn’t know Mare, which as you can imagine, ruled out a lot of people. latimes.com/entertainment-…

So I'm enjoying #Hacks and the Jean Smart appreciation that popped up in my TL last night has put me on to several shows I hadn't checked out - Will definitely watch @FargoFX unlikely to check out #MareofEasttown but I do have to say something about Ava on #Hacks
As a consumer of tons of movies & television I absolutely cannot stand the fascination Hollywood writers have with bratty privileged white characters that as supposedly sympathetic because of "fill in the blank" tragedy - IE: Ava is the worst thing about #Hacks
Ava's entire story arc so far (mind you I'm only a few episodes in) reeks of a kind of white woman zoomer privilege that I guess is supposed to be funny and endearing but is downright abrasive to viewers not in that demographic

So many of these small town murders shows from Broadchurch to Trapped to #MareOfEasttown and many in between depend on very stupid secretive behavior by friends and teenaged kids of cops, which is a bit unrealistic no? Your friend is dead but you hide info from cop mom? Nah.
There's a horrific murder, often of a young woman, known to everyone. But teens are like, mommy issues or daddy issues more important than catching a killer on the loose. Who inevitably comes after said stupid teenager. So predictable but also unrealistic.
There is no way so many actual teenagers, especially cop kids, will sit on info. TV drama writers today need to move beyond the stupid angsty teen trope to stretch a show to ten episodes.

And Stranger Things is a whole other level of lazy writing in this.

The murder investigation in #MareOfEasttown is incidental. There is certainly a mystery at the heart of it, but like almost all great stories that mystery is about finding out a way to learn to live with one's grief.
Battles we fight and lose, over and over again. Until that moment arrives when you pull yourself together and climb out of the arena. From denial, to despair and finally acceptance. Knowing well that you may fall back into that pit again. There's no permanent cure for some pains.
Sometimes the only closure we can find is the thought that almost everyone we love is coping with life like an incomplete portrait...and learn to smile today with less than what we had before, what we thought was indispensable to our survival even yesterday. And yet, here we are.
