Since #CJIChandrachud has made this ridiculous comment outside courts, I can LOL ironically without fear of contempt. We know how Justice HR Khanna superseded, AN Ray made CJI. Justices Sinha, Lalit careers stalled. See below proof.

@KirenRijiju in Rajya Sabha: Main reason for pendency is appointment of judges.
The Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha had passed the #NJAC Act in 2015. 2/3rd states approved it as well.

@KirenRijiju: The Government has taken numerous steps to tackle pendency. Without referring to those (for paucity of time), i wanna say that right now, the government has very limited power to fill vacancies...

...We only approve the names recommended by the collegium. We have no authority to look for and recommend judges ourselves.

Besides must not forget that #Judiciary a huge stumbling block in Governmentā€™s resolve to pursue reformative governance. As @vijayadar Ji pointed earlier in his thread, quite worrying to see Judiciary putting impediments in the Governmentā€™s working.

The #Judiciary too will need to ponder and work ceaselessly in delivery of justice fair and prompt. Justice should not be only done but should be ā€œseen tooā€ to have been done. Huge gap witnessed in that direction.

Today's report in papers, that the CJI has said that delays in appointment are the reason for the judicial delays...

with a full bench in SC, how does that explain 70000 pending cases in SC???

#Judicialaccountability
If we believe that appointments are being delayed in the Judiciary, that means the current system is not working.

the current system is completely controlled by the CJI led judiciary.

why no revamp being done by them?

#Judicialaccountability
it stands to reason, if the Judiciary is not able to cure the ills of its own system, it needs outside help.

But, the judiciary even refused to acknowledge that their is a problem.

Constitutional amendment us again necessary for #Judicialaccountability
