I could go off & be with the ones that Love me for who I AM instead of taking the world abuse or absolutely NOTHING is ever good enough.
Instead, I continue showing what NO ONE else in the world can SHOW along with WHO is was created specifically for & #WH-Y it was ALL created
As it has been …

The ones that show their LOVE to God as God has loved them, believe & TRUST—They are the ones who are at PEACE within the storm KNOWING it was over before it ever began.

I have been away from those I Am supposed to be next to for far to long, away from them
Because I CHOSE with FREE WILL to help people that would have never been SHOWN the things everyone needed to see in order to paint A picture within ones own mind to know WHAT is happening, WHY it’s happening & HOW everyone can be set free without [NEEDING] the truth

Let’s talk about taking care of Soldiers. A SFC had issues with childcare due to the pandemic and his wife has high risk pregnancy resulting in him missing work while she is hospitalized. The unit decided the best COA was to chapter the SFC with almost 18 years. /1
When the SFC pointed out the leave takes him over 18 years and requires separate rules. The command changed the separation date to yesterday (28 Jan) with no notice while his wife is in hospital giving birth (basically terminating Tricare). /2
The unit was kind enough to fill out the statement of charges and clear him from Army without his knowledge. But hey, they sent him wishes since they knew he was at hospital with wife. #peoplefirst

'Leaders Eat Last' by @simonsinek

I had mixed thoughts on this one. I found the overall message on point, even when disagreeing on some observations. Overall, an engaging anthology on leadership.

June #professionaldevelopment Leaders Eat Last by Simon Sinek https://www.goodreads.com/bo
I anticipated reading 'Leaders Eat Last' during this challenge. I enjoyed Sinek's TED talk and his book 'Start with Why' (September's book) was one of the first LPD books I picked up.

spoti.fi/3uue6Mu 2019 was the first year I had ever heard of (or maybe comprehended?) the American tragedy in Tulsa.

As we approach a century after, I reflect on what I can do today to ensure nothing like this happens again. 🧵

#ThoughtForTheDay
In 1921, the armed forces would not be integrated for another 27 years. WAAC would not be actualized for 21, and American Women’s right to vote was recognized less that a year prior.
Every day I am excited to be in an Army in 2021. One that is committing itself to #PeopleFirst. Initiatives like #ProjectInclusion, #ThisIsMySquad, and #WhatsYourWarrior are making my Army a stronger, more cohesive, more capable #USArmy than ever before.

‘John Brown: A Biography of American abolitionist’ by W.E.B. Du Bois. A fascinating telling of the antebellum abolitionist whose belief -"Slavery is wrong"- thrust him and into a personal war to uproot an institution older than the nation he loved.

OFFICER EDUCATION (Part 4)
There is much more to this topic than we can cover in just two threads per week while still leaving time to cover all the other topics we’ll get to, but how about one more thread about Officer Education in the @USArmy during the Interwar Period?
As many people know, the Army is a lot more than just Infantry, Armor, and Artillery. And Army missions involve a lot more than just closing with and destroying the enemy. The things that officers learn in school help make sure the Army functions as a whole organization.

Leaders,

Remember our charge and creed. 🧵 ImageImage
We are charged to care for our Soldiers. To do this we must know our them. My first questions to any Soldier is where are you from, why are you here, what is your story?

#thisismysquad #PeopleFirst
Never degrade a Soldier for who they are. Respect is foundational to the #ArmyEthic. Will you have disagreements? They are inevitable, but honesty without tact is cruel and callous. #DoBetter

Finished ‘Invisible Women’ by @CCriadoPerez today.

I would be lying if I said it was a relaxing read. No, it was like a VR experience with an infuriating view of my own biases throughout.

#TheUnitLibrary #Bookclub 🧵 Image
“Seeing men as the default human is fundamental to the structure of human society.”

‘What? No. Really?’ The first line, and already my bias was showing. A common occurrence through the meticulously presented data of how at every turn, half the world’s population is let down.
It is no wonder that “Women will buy books by and about men, but men won’t buy books by and about women (or at least not many.)” I noted that my reading list just form this year is skewed to male authors. (3 to 12)

One of the most common anonymous posts I see in the military spouse FB groups is the reluctance of a spouse to seek mental health treatment because of fear it will hurt their SM’s career. Not only has the Army created an environment where SMs are afraid to 1/
seek help, it has also allowed this same fear to harm their families as well. Many spouses are afraid seeking help will limit their ability to PCS. I’ve seen posts where spouses have discussed whether or not they should take their medication and for how long if they are 2/
trying to go OCONUS. Horrifyingly, I’ve even seen discussion about whether or not having their children treated for something is a good idea based on it limiting where they can PCS. I’ve seen spouses worry about what their SM’s chain of command will think about them needing 3/

As we grapple with LA's failure to house its people, we want to reaffirm a commitment to equity and fairness in our approach. @CamnerLeonora wrote about why it is important for the #yimby movement to center WHERE to put housing and for WHOM:

abundanthousingla.org/a-yimby-moveme…
Abundant Housing LA is building the pro-housing movement for LA. But it’s not enough to just be supportive of housing in general. Achieving housing abundance requires thoughtful approaches that center equity, racial justice, and environmentalism.

Abundant Housing is committed to critically reexamining our approach to housing, our past positions, and direction in the context of equity and racial justice.

In order to remain a #PeopleFirst Army, we must be honest about our past, understanding and reckoning with moments that have held us back. Changing posts named for Confederate leaders, many who never served in the U.S. Army, is an important step. 1/
While we do this, we need to educate ourselves about why these names came to be in the first place, and why it matters in the 21st century. 2/
The Confederate names were products of the WWI and WWII mobilizations, which occurred in the Jim Crow era of white supremacy, racial violence, and disenfranchisement of Black people. 3/

To everybody thinking they have the right to correct #DisabledPeople when they use that term, telling us it should be #PWD STOP. #PeopleFirst is not correct, it's outdated. Maybe listen to us, explore the #SocialModel & be a bit more humble.
To all the people who didn't get what I meant in this tweet, here's my beginner's guide to disability explanation of language like disabled people.
If you are really tied to putting "people" first when describing disabled people, to stick to the social model & be grammatically correct why not use "people who are disabled" or "a person who is disabled"?
Then we all win.

I’m happy to announce today that an NDP government will reverse years of Sask. Party cuts to school-based supports and will make children’s mental health a priority in Saskatchewan.

#skpoli #saskatchewan #peoplefirst

saskndp.ca/invest_in_ment…
Scott Moe’s government has failed to support vulnerable students. I’ve heard from too many parents and teachers worried about how this pandemic is impacting their kids’ mental health. Young people have been through so much in the past months, and supports were already inadequate.
It’s way past time to invest in students and give them the support they need now and good skills for the future.
Under my leadership, an NDP government will invest $5 million to hire 50 mental health nurses to work in schools across Saskatchewan and an additional $5M to work...

The Sask. Party admitted this week that they’re planning “austerity” and we know that means cuts. They’re taking us down the wrong road, especially as we continue to deal with COVID-19. (1/3) #skpoli

Right after the last election, the Sask Party cut our healthcare and education, leaving families behind.

Together, I know we can do better. (2/3)
I’m committed to building our economy by investing in people, instead of trying to cut our way back to health.

Join us to stand up against more status quo thinking from Scott Moe and the Sask. Party. It’s time for a new approach. (3/3) #skpoli #peoplefirst

#MemorialDay hits differently this year. What if a foreign government was responsible for the deaths of 100,000 of our friends, neighbors, coworkers, and family members?

My family members have gone to war for America over much, much less.
For many, the military offers a way out of the poverty & instability we face b/c of intentional disinvestment in our communities.

Billions of taxpayer $ go to the military to keep us “safe.” How much safer could we be if we just invested in education, jobs, & healthcare for all?
I believe the best way to honor those we lost is to:

1. Be honest about the cost of war;

2. Champion #PeopleFirst policies so less of our loved ones will have to make this sacrifice;

3. Provide comprehensive care, protections, & security for our troops when they come home.

Aviation is being devasted by #COVID19 but we're just the tip of the spear. Many more industries will need help. It is CRITICAL that we keep our eyes on the ball. Relief packages for ANY industry MUST put #PeopleFirst Thread 1/7
The aviation relief package we put forward through @afa_cwa and transportation Labor makes it clear: any company that we rescue must maintain pay and benefits for every worker. No layoffs. Period. 2/7
That's not all. We need structural change to our economy. Corporations spent their cash on stock buybacks to juice share price and reward execs. That's why our plan says:
-No more stock buybacks, period
-No relief money for exec bonuses
-No relief money for dividends

Hey Missouri! Happy Thursday.

Just a reminder that it’s fully possible to make/keep our great state safe by passing common-sense gun legislation that not only respects responsible gun ownership but also the 2nd Amendment. It’s beyond doable.
#JamesforMO #Flip16
Also, I highly encourage you to attend your local @MomsDemand meeting to learn all the ways we can make our communities safer.

We’ve seen how the @MissouriGOP has catered to the NRA for too long. With their supermajority they’ve the power make us safe, but they haven’t. #Flip16
I don’t believe a political party should control a state legislature and its agenda. Elected officials should put people first, period. Luckily Missouri, we’ve the power to do just that, by voting in 2020 for your @MoDemParty candidates. The time is now.

For 29 years, the Americans with Disabilities Act has helped defend the rights of disabled Americans. It is integral to building an inclusive, fair, and just nation and as president, I will defend and strengthen it. #ADA29
I've already proposed a start with my #PeopleFirst policies:

✅Fully funding the Individuals with Disabilities in Education Act (IDEA)

✅Reforming school discipline practices that punish students with disabilities

✅Repealing the Trump admin's discriminatory policies

#ADA29
As president, I would strengthen housing protections by:

✅Defending disability protections

✅Ensuring individuals with disabilities have priority for affordable housing

✅Expanding Medicare to cover long-term support services

Homeland Security Sec. Nielsen is leaving her position. nbcnews.to/2UozkxW
Sen. Harris: “Kirstjen Nielson misled the American people and defended Trump's inhuman policy of separating children from their parents. It was long past time for her to go.”
Julián Castro: “Sec. Nielsen has been a willing partner in the most cruel and short-sighted immigration agenda in decades. We must defeat Donald Trump and create a more compassionate and sensible immigration system that puts #PeopleFirst.”
