The title of the first gathering Way had in this cycle, in March of 2021, was The Case for Action. It wasn’t that we thought we could win, or that anyone could predict anything. It was the case that we had to act because our democracy was hanging in the balance. A 🧵. 
Deep organizing + strong narratives + bold candidates - that’s the current Way to Win. This thread is about what we did on the Strong Narratives side. It’s long, because we did … a lot. And this isn't even all of it. We're only hitting some of the high points here!
We were all exhausted from the last four years of fighting Trump, and we knew we weren’t going to make up five decades of conservative investment and total hegemony in ideas marketing. But we had to try, and already had the pedal on the floor on Jan 6th.
A summary of the message advice that @anatosaurus, @waytowinaf & other partners gave to Democrats, backed by qualitative and quantitative research and evaluation, starting in July 2022. Our goal was mobisuasion — persuade & mobilize our diverse coalition of voters. 🧵
Make this election a clear contrast between Trump/MAGA Republicans who want to take us backwards to control our lives and rule for the wealthy few, and voters who can take us forward to #ProtectOurFreedoms and futures.
The clear contrast can be made purely on economic issues as well, like this ad exposing the real reasons behind inflation.
This is a utterly impressive and remarkable ad. It’s really well done, timing, pace, frames, triggers - fully on point. And effective.

2/ Don’t get me wrong, amazing work. But as an old woman whose family came here from Weimar Germany, I can’t help but remember that it’s never pro- or opponents, but the conformist / establish / passive majority which gives permission to authoritarians, or not.
3/ This kind of format, visuals, pacing, I would love to see that with an explainer part on how our economy is under threat, how the threat plays PR while preying on what enables us to secure our rights.
