#Adani : Textbook case of crony capitalism

Must Read #Thread 🚨

on how #Modi ji helped, changed rules & systems to make #Adani Biggest airport operator 👇🏻

(1/9) Image
Modi changed rules to allow new entrants with no prior experience to run Airports & went against experts, allowed monopoly by giving all 6 airports to #Adani

Isn’t giving to inexperienced company a risk to crores of Indians? Adani was chosed over safety of country

(2/9)
Handing over of 6 airports to #Adani Enterprises for a period of 50 years is in complete violation of AAI Act, 1994 which says no airport can be leased out to any private player for more than 30 years.

As India reeled from the devastating covid-19 deaths, it censored critical content on social media. @project_polis's @watchthestate was temporarily restricted twice in one week. @kiccovich and I write about this censorship for the @washingtonpost

Since March, as the Indian health infrastructure completely crumbled, social media platforms have become the de facto helplines where helpless citizens ask for help and offer mutual support.
To maintain a lived memory of the present and gather evidence to hold the state accountable, our account has been collecting and sharing instances of state violence from reliable news sources.

This is a strong, important & timely decision, esp in light of Facebook's enforcement mistakes around #ResignModi yesterday.

There's some really important recommendations here. Facebook has 30 days to respond and that'll be worth watching.

A few things worth highlighting /1
The case concerned a video that was critical of Modi & the BJP. Facebook removed it under its Dangerous Orgs policy. It was a mistake, & when the Board selected the case, but before it decided, fb said it got it wrong and reversed the decision. /2
This is not the first time the Board has done this. It's telling Facebook "you can't moot a case by simply reversing decisions when we pick a case. You wouldn't have found the mistake otherwise." /3

FB India is currently censoring posts calling for the resignation of the Prime Minister
I just used a VPN to check and this is still active. Outside of India, most posts using this hashtag are about the censorship
What's going on @Liz_Shepherd @andymstone?

Although the emerging pandemic gave #Modi over a year which he could have spent preparing for what one journalist termed a “viral apocalypse,” he instead spent it laying symbolic foundations for the Hindu Nation which the #RSS seeks to build.

Now, as COVID spirals out of control, the Modi regime’s priority appears to be to keep doing what it does best: image management.
Yet the gleam of Brand Modi risks being dimmed by the shadow of stigma. People around the world are waking up and smelling the chai. Within India, millions are mad as hell and refusing to take it anymore.

Image
