I tagged them all.
Retweet your State.

Hey @TheDemocrats, please do something bold to take back the narrative. Like, I dunno, subpoena some 1/6 Congressmen and women. Exec Order codifying abortion rights. Something! Otherwise, the GOP will just hang Biden on AFG. House is on fire. PUT IT OUT!
Republicans do things they know will be legally challenged. It's as much a PR move as anything. But, they also control the courts. Dems can no longer be dismissive of these moves. SCOTUS is now a Death Panel b/c we let Mitch steal a seat. We doubted his resolve to be evil.
We doubted the GOP's commitment to power at all costs. We have to assume that they are willing to destroy democracy to preserve power. THEY'RE KILLING THEIR OWN VOTERS B/C THEY DON'T PLAN TO HONOR ELECTIONS!

More and more lately I've been reacting impatiently whenever I see calls for return to civil discourse and a search for political common ground. In earlier times I've been a participant -- sometimes a leader, even -- in such bipartisan dialogue. 1/
And I still believe that politics and public policy entail consensus building as well as debating and putting matters to a vote. The underlying basic point is that the mode of deciding things depends on the situation. Consensus building isn't always appropriate. 2/
Whenever I hear exhortations to dialogue and divide-bridging, to my ears they sound ill-suited to the current moment. Will we reach a new understanding about respect for election outcomes? Will there be some kind of compromise on universal suffrage? 3/

Hindsights:
During the BLM protests, Trump ran to the WH bunker.
During the Capitol Riot, he didn't.

Clearly, he had no fear of the 2nd.

That could only be because he and his people knew they weren't a threat to him, much less Antifa, as he falsely claimed to McCarthy.

1/
The GOP helped Trump:

- commit crimes vs humanity via concentration camps & family separations

- obstruct justice during & after the Mueller probe

- steal federal resources to:
~ campaign
~ extort Ukraine
~ aid Putin's UKR invasion

- attempt a violent coup

Exile them.
2/
Why don't GOP Senators fear being expelled for:

- helping incite a violent attack on Congress and a coup attempt
- violating their juror oaths by failing to attend, announcing their prejudice, conspiring w/ the defense in trials
- ignoring their oversight duty?

Conspiracy Theory of an Ermine - Why the GOP NEEDS Marjorie Taylor Green

55 years ago, Life Magazine predicted the GOP would have a choice to make. Become a “white man’s party” or appeal to a more diverse electorate. We know what they chose (1)
Over the years, the GOP realized that one day, this choice would come back to haunt them. It was predicted in the 80’s that soon after the turn of the century, they would face a time when POC and liberal voters would outnumber them. This just happened (2)
They knew they had to act, and so they began a strategy that would hopefully delay the inevitable until they could sieze power. They knew their strategy needed several components. The battle would have many fronts, and it would take them all to win the war and stay in power. (3)

1. Oh yes. Silencing Trump is absolutely important. But it doesn't change the basic driver that brought the GOP to Trump in the 1st place- the Frankenstein they built- the right wing media ecosystem- that is a monster they lost control of back in the late 2000s. If establishment

3. right now, if @OldBullTV put a betting market on "American democracy is still functioning, intact 6 yrs from now" I'd peg that at 50/50. And no, I'm not being hyperbolic. AND the 2022 cycle will determine whether those odds improve or get markedly worse. If the GOP takes

There needs to concurrently be harsh and swift punishment for insurrectionists and a coming together between Democrats and Republicans who choose to stand up against coup attempts, like yesterday's.

In an ideal world, this is what would happen:

1/
Vice President Pence would get a majority of the cabinet to invoke the 25th amendment, today.

Acting President Pence would immediately invite Joe Biden to hold the inauguration at the White House, to ensure safety and security.

2/
Concurrently, Democrats and Republicans who believe in our Constitution would refer the #SeditionCaucus to ethics committees in the House and Senate, for expulsion. Top of the list would be @tedcruz and @HawleyMO. But also @GOPLeader @RepMoBrooks and @SteveScalise and more.

Burn this image in your brain. We will keep seeing this for the rest of our lives.
This is the party that justifies cops killing people selling loose cigarettes and passing dodgy $20 bills. The seat of the US govt is being attacked by white nationalists and I don't see any cops around. This is the Republican Party attacking the US government.
"Protesters have now taken over the floor of the Senate"

Is american media speak for "White supremacist terrorists have taken over the floor of the Senate".
