As a Muslim, I love Christmas.... 🎄

...because it's such a special time to honour and remember Isa (Jesus)!

Here are my 6 favourite facts about Jesus (peace be upon him) in the Qur'an ⬇️🧵 #TeamRE
1️⃣ Family: In Islam, Jesus is a descendent of David, and therefore descendent of Jacob and Abraham, peace be upon them all. He is the nephew of Zachariah, peace be upon him, and cousin of John, peace be upon him. What a noble family indeed!
2️⃣ Titles: Jesus is given many titles in the Qur'an, like...
-Ruh: a spirit (21:91)
-Abdullah: a servant of Allah (19:30)
-Mubarak: blessed (19:31)
-Ayah: a sign (19:21)
-Rahmah: a mercy (19:21)
-Kalimah: a word from Allah (3:45)
-Wajeeh: honoured (3:45)

And of course 'Messiah'!

My summer school sessions for new year 7s was all about conceptualising Worldview, as we call RE ‘Religion and Worldviews’. I was nervous to do an hour on this. If you are too, read on to see how I tackled worldview with 11 y/o’s, their work, some advice and resources #TeamRE 🧵
We started by exploring what Worldview (WV) means, and how religions are WVs. I then explained how not everyone is religious, but everyone has a worldview. All of them in the room. I used Theos’ ‘Nobody Stands Nowhere’ video which is visually rich and sparks conversation. Image
I explained that WVs are lenses through which we make sense of Big Questions. I posed a set of different questions (below) and invited students to consider which are ‘big’ or ‘small’ & why. Responses including Big are not easy to answer, and people have different opinions on Big Image

Still feeling blessed beyond measure to have completed #Umrah 🕋

🧵 Since I'm self-isolating, I've put together some of my favourite snaps from my journey with their history that may be useful for #TeamRE! ⬇️
Starting with #Madinah, previously Yathrib, the first Islamic community. Madinah is the resting place of the Prophet Muhammad and his 2 companions, Abu Bakr and Umar, below the iconic green dome 💚 Muslims give their 'salaam' to the Prophet when they visit.
Adjacent to Prophet Muhammad's resting place is Jannat al-Baqi, a graveyard which is the resting place for many significant figures in Islam, including the Prophet's wives, children and companions. This was closed due to covid (except for funerals). Pic from @HaramainInfo
