There is a very good 🧵 at threadreaderapp.com/thread/1422569…, unrolled at threadreaderapp.com/thread/1422569…, concerning #TransIdeology. You should read it. But something needs to be added.

The claim that when a man feels "I am a woman" he literally IS a woman is flat out #insanity.
The fact that many people believe this shows their is something severely wrong with them, psychologically.

And the fact that this insane claim has conquered the #Progressive movement shows there is something wrong with Progressivism, philosophically.
#Progressives should have reacted to these claims with laughter, believing them to be an elaborate joke. When they realized the ideology was serious, they should have felt stunned surprised that anyone could believe the equivalent of people thinking they were Napoleon.

#Transideology subverts in ways we have seen before

Call people names, smear reputations, punish heretics.

Faced w threat & fear many people will stay silent and out of trouble. Others will recite the words & point fingers, some will truly believe in the existence of witches
Nobody wants to be called a transphobe.

And defending someone who has been called a transphobe will get you called a transphobe.

"There are extremists on both sides" is a comforting rationale for staying silent, or even for pointing fingers.
This is a story about two people who have pointed the finger at me. Firstly there is @JolyonMaugham (Tax barrister, of #FoxingDay fame).

Jolyon believes that he occupies the middle ground between "extremists" in this debate.

Testosterone does not make the man.

(A long and winding thread about sex differences and gender norms, and how name calling by activists is cheap for them, but has devastating effects on the conversation. 1/28)
If working for a world that MLK would have embraced makes me a racist, and demanding that women’s rights not fall prey to #TransIdeology makes me a transphobe, then those words no longer have useful meanings.

So: 2/
Testosterone does not make the man.

T does contribute to making the man—both activationally (in the moment) and organizationally (masculinizing anatomy and physiology from an early age, in a non-reversible way). Organizational effects cannot be reversed with hormone blockers. 3/

"I didn’t want to be seen as a woman–as a lesbian–and I didn’t want to ask why."
Great essay by detransitioned Max Robson, 22 y/o. Her story, queer culture, and the political implications.

"I didn’t know anything. It was just so comforting to think that I was born wrong. If my body was the problem, it could be solved. Transition had clearly defined steps. Everybody chose from a set list, and when it was over, they were properly assembled."
"It took years of testosterone for me to finally realize it was okay to live in my own body without it, that making this peace with myself was possible, and that I deserved that chance.
I didn’t know it was okay to be a dysphoric lesbian, that I could survive this way."
