"FGM Shattered My Life!"
Chemutai, 45 Years Old, Recalls Hers:
"I will never forget that night. It was cold and they held me down and did what they did. First, they poured really cold milk on me. They said that would help with the pain. It took me a long time ImageImage
to heal; going to ease myself was so hard…
I did not know the way they cut me had anything to do with this urine problem but when I went to a hospital, a nurse told me that I had a big scar and that it might have prevented my children from coming out properly.
I am childless now

Welcome to Issue 102 of The Continent.

Cover story: In the hypocrisy of climate geopolitics, the trade-off is simple. African countries are expected to toe the global north’s line, in exchange for cash.
But the cash never arrives, even as Africa is forced to do as it is told. Leaders smile for the cameras at climate negotiations before going home to countries that cannot develop. This dynamic must change. African countries need to do it their own way. Fast. Pipe dreams: The EU is in a...

Here is a Youtube comment by a viewer after watching my show on #boycottwomanking. They are literally saying that the film doesn’t make it clear that the Dahomey were mass slavers. And also the palm oil alternative to trading slaves was produced by legions of “brutalized” slaves.
What was done by the movie #womanking in omitting KEY facts to paint a picture of Viola Davis character as an emancipator is plainly AWFUL. And it has left millions of Blacks that saw it confused. Imagine how worse it would have been w/o #boycottwomanking?
In #womanking they presented PALM OIL as a tool of emancipation to millions. WHEN PALM OIL PRODUCTION WAS ACTUALLY BRUTAL SLAVERY AT MASS SCALE. Our ancestors were enslaved by the Dahomey making Palm Oil under horrible conditions often leading to disease, sickness, & even death.

Review and commentary on #TheWomanKing
on Dahomey and the slave trade

*all rights belong to Sony
As a movie, #TheWomanKing was good, its light on dialogue but has well-choreographed action scenes; both the costumes and general cinematography are stunning (they took some liberties with the fort) and watching it was worth every second
The movie's runtime is mostly spent on the Agojie, but since most reviews were uninterested in that but instead focused on Dahomey's history
(or rather; what they think is Dahomey's history that they feel wasn't accurately portrayed)
I'll confine my commentary to that as well

The gravity of the atrocities skipped over by #womanking can't be put into words. The #BoycottWomanKing protest should be an awakening for #ados Black Americans as to the GAPS in their own identity. "The African Trade" by History is a good primer. WATCH:
The #WomanKing Dahomey traded about 3 mill of our ancestors but other countries & their progeny have been able to live on a flat blackness that Black Americans have blindly anchored. There still were 9 mill more sold up the African coast for hundreds of years. #BoycottWomanKing
Part of the reason this isn’t resonating as it should is first there is no video. And we now learn visually. And also we don’t grasp the scale. Next time you’re at a packed NFL stadium look around. Imagine all those people enslaved in one place. Multiply that by 200 times.

1) Why isn’t @thr interviewing Maria Bello she said she found the story & also it was her brainchild. We are getting quotes from Viola on womanhood as cover. Why can’t we hear from the person who told us it was her idea & project? #BoycottWomanKing - hollywoodreporter.com/lifestyle/life…
2) Bello only has 1 writing credit on IMDB. #womanking . THERE’s NOTHING before this film. Her writing career starts w/ recreating the genesis of our enslavement. Now millions of Blacks are leaving theaters arguing w/ us w/ her writing as their lineal anchor. #boycottwomanking
“In reality, Dahomey was a notorious slave kingdom, and not the Pan-African freedom fighters as the movie presents them. They enslaved and murdered hundreds of thousands from other tribes and sold them into the slave trade.”

1) STOP reporting the #WomanKing leading the box office. It’s suppose to it’s the 1 film in 3700 theaters. #boycottwomanking
“The woman King is not proven to be profitable in any way. So overall it is coming out that the film will be a box office failure.” thefilmik.com/the-woman-king…
2) They are telling Black America anything on a $19 mill wkd. As an atty that has worked in film I’ll tell you read to get a grasp on per screen avg numbers. #boycottwomanking They opened this #womanking film too wide & many of these theaters were empty. thewrap.com/everything-eve…
3) The Hollywood media has decided to tell Black America anything. #boycottwomanking These numbers are abysmal for a film opening in 3700. Of course its #1 NO movie opened as wide. The other small opening was made for $1 million wasn't in 3700 theaters and will double the budget.

Time to Boycott the Woman King movie. The film is about the Dahomey & Benin that traded slaves into the transatlantic. #BoycottWomanKing — Click Here:
— This may be the most offensive film to Black Americans in 40-50 years.
#BoycottWomanKing this happened live during the show this week. 🤫🙏🏿👀 “Time to Boycott the Woman King movie. The film is about the Dahomey & Benin. #BOYCOTTWOMANKING”
No $17 - 18 million is not a success. I also believe the people that come opening weekend are all the die hard traffic. There won’t be legs. No other group of people would deal with Hollywood avoiding the content’s ties to slavery and clear disrespect.
