regular reminder that these fabricated on-paper billions were a *political* imperative. Robodebt cost billions of public dollars more than any headlined projected revenue. There was no actual fiscal “need”. The program was Coalition “economic management” campaign messaging.
the Canberra press gallery and their corporate media bosses are an essential element of Coalition campaign lies. The illegality of #Robodebt was well established by the time #ausmedia swung in behind Morrison in May 2019.
even after the hardship and deaths were grudgingly conceded and the multi billion dollar fiscal costs were published, corporate media rallied for franking boomers and Coalition economic management lies and saddled us with Scott fucking six ministries Morrison for 3 more years.

portraying Scott Morrison as having done “not much” is unfathomable to me. All the lives he attacked and destroyed as Minister for “Border Protection” and “Human Services” and Treasurer. The planetary collapse he advocates for as Prime Minister.

theguardian.com/australia-news…
many things Morrison does are monumentally cruel and destructive. Individuals, households, population sectors and classes of persons are worse off, more anxious, poorer, unhappier, in despair, and dead - following decisions and actions for which Morrison is directly responsible.
ministerial decisions taken by Morrison cause real life and death impacts for people, including children, who are already persecuted, struggling, dealing with unimaginable hardships. “He hadn’t done very much” is a complete mischaracterisation of his record in public life.

seems Morrison is too thick to be running a raffle let alone a country and setting policy on the future of the planet. “I have a lot of respect for your country, I have a lot of respect and a lot of friendship for your people” is not sledging the country or the people.
anyway no doubt #ausmedia will put his phoney macho chest thumping in the headlines, so as to maximise his chances of re-election. They love that cheap misogynist copy.
what’s the headline, skip? Scott Morrison says… Scott Morrison attempts to… here is an audio grab of Scott Morrison chest thumping and gaslighting. An abusive bully powered the usual litany of lies, fawning press gallery, and undiluted toxic masculinity.

hundreds of thousands of people marched against the Abbot government in 2014. At the Sydney rallies I saw maybe 5 or 6 patrol cars, no more than 20 police, definitely no riot gear, and we got exactly zero media coverage.
worth remembering we were both peaceful and completely ignored in 2014 as #ausmedia provides blanket coverage - amplification, boosting nazi recruitment strategies - of violent extremists; and rush in to misdefine organised labour for their readership of the propertied classes.
the one constant is media inviting waspy tory right wing grifters to define and analyse “the left”, about which said talking heads know absofuckinglutely nothing.

Via @GeoffHanmer: "The introduction of the Building Code of Australia, now the National Construction Code (NCC) from the mid-1980s was driven by an agenda to increase self-regulation in the building industry... with the aim of reducing construction costs." afr.com/real-estate/re…
"By 2004, the Productivity Commission had given deregulation a big tick. In a 2004 report it theorised billions of dollars would be saved by moving to a more flexible regulatory environment. It did not consider the cost of rectifying buildings." #Auspol

For anyone who's interested, the full 2004 Reform of Building Regulation report is still available online. It certainly makes for some... interesting... reading in light of the recent problems with buildings. #Auspol
