Das Immunsystem reagiert auf die Spike-Proteine mit einer Immunantwort, d.h. der Bildung zahlloser Antikörper, die sich auch gegen nicht unbedingt notwendige Regionen richten. Bis genug wirksame Antikörper gegen das Spike-Protein entstehen, dauert es bis zu zwei Wochen.
