1/n A fascinating article came out this summer that argues for a plant-forward omni diet, and it contains a very inflammatory headline:

"Debunking the #vegan myth: The case for a plant-forward omnivorous whole-foods diet"

Note author Loren Cordain, a paleo proponent Image

The abstract:

"Veganism is without evolutionary precedent in Homo sapiens species. Strict adherence to a #vegan diet causes predictable deficiencies in nutrients including vitamins B12, B2, D, niacin, iron, iodine, zinc, high-quality proteins, omega-3, and calcium."

Let's review the images quickly because they show some of these dangers.

EL ÓRGANO MÁS GRANDE del cuerpo es… ¡la piel! 🖐🏼🦵🏻👩🏻

No inmunes: queratinocitos, fibroblastos, #adipocitos,etc

Inmunes: Células dendríticas (DCs), #macrófagos, etc

I developed seborrheic dermatitis ever since my Covid vaccination. Unsure whether it's related, but definitely flared up again after I gained hybrid immunity.
Seborrheic dermatitis, sometimes called seborrheic eczema, is a common skin disease that causes itching, scaly patches, and red skin on areas of the body with overworked sebaceous glands or the scalp.
There are a variety of treatment options available, from self-care and antifungal medications to medicated shampoos, creams, and lotions. Seborrheic dermatitis is very common, with more than 3 million U.S. cases occurring every year. There is ongoing research for new treatments.

Pleased to announce new #beatNTDs paper published, covering our 2019 study on #scabies and skin infections in #Ghana.

We trained healthcare staff on recognising scabies & other skin infections. Over 6-month period, study clinics recorded and reviewed 385 cases of skin infections. There were 45 diagnosed scabies cases (3rd most common skin infection, behind bacterial #dermatitis and #tinea) (/2)
We also assessed how far the patient travelled from home to clinic. There was a lot of ‘bypassing’ (i.e. they did not attend their nearest health centre, they travelled further than in theory they needed to) (/3)

5 areas you should wash thoroughly before you leave the bathroom

1. Around your ears
2. Armpits
3. Groin & anal region
4. In-between your fingers
5. In-between your toes

A thread 🧵

When some people go to have a bath, they just pour water on their bodies, with or without soap, & pay little attention to cleaning the dirtiest & most vulnerable parts of their skin.

You need to do this to keep your skin clean & prevent lots of skin diseases.
The back of ears & ridge in front of the ears are often ignored when most people bath.

Some people come out of the bathroom but you still see dirt around these areas.

They are exposed to the outside & can harbor germs, dust & dirt.

Take time to clean these areas when bathing.
